“Sandy Paws” Lower is a Pet Friendly duplex managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and is the perfect beach location to bring the ENTIRE family, paws, boats and ALL! This 2 bed/1.5 Lower Duplex is just one row back and less than 100 feet (or paws) from our sandy shores, a moderate walk to downtown CB, and all the SEA sights, sounds, and experiences imaginable!

The space;

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to the North End, Downtown CB, and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. One block Up and Over on Canal Drive is a public dock with an ICWW Kayak launch!

Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

The home is a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everyone! Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while vacationing with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bed/1.5 bath home opens up into a large, newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked with all of the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker ready to help make yourself at home.

A few of the amenities provided by your Owners include courtesy large shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel left in the bathroom of each bath as well. Also, a roll of TP in each bathroom, 1 roll of PT in the kitchen, 2 garbage bags per garbage, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, dryer sheets, hand soap, dish soap, a sponge, coffee, tea, and pure cane sugar in each kitchen. Additional items are likely on sight as well!

The home's ONE QUEEN and ONE FULL + TWIN bunk bed consists of pillow topped encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

There is one smart TV in each room to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!

The outdoor shower is located at the front of the building to help get that sand off of those toes! There are a variety of miscellaneous beach items on the lower left of the home for all guests to enjoy!

Guest access;

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a private deck/patio. The front yard is shared by BOTH suites and should not be used for pets to run loose unattended. Proper pet etiquette and owner responsibility should be followed at all times!

The YARD: The backyard/front yard is intended for both units to be able to congregate, BBQ, play, and have a blast. Please do NOT let your pets loose. Feel free to utilize the front yard, side yard, or any number of amazing neighborhood walks to help your furry child relieve themselves.

PARKING: Each RESERVATION will have access to TWO assigned parking spaces.

•Closest BEACH access: Oyster shell Public Beach Access (Oyster shell Lane).

Neighborhood overview;

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and one block from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set eight blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities, and dining.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around;

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has several vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Rentals @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute best vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure guests can spend more time enjoying themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella and chair rentals, Hot Ticket Fishing Charters, Salty Dog Yoga, Amy’s Rise N Shine, and Griffin Cleaning and linens.

•Linens
(Sheets, bath towels, wash cloths pillowcases, wash cloths, bathmats) ARE included as part of the rental here (excluding beach towels which can be rented through scrubandgo@griffinscleaning dot org. If requiring extra or non-included linens, please reach out to Griffin Cleaning Services who is a partner with SWRE and will assist in any way possible! Please make sure all linens are placed in the basket or hamper before your departure! Please let all BED LINENS on the beds remain on the beds for our TEAM to take care of! GOLF CARTS
•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•The home is non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

•April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the Carolina Beach during restricted hours of BEFORE 9:00 am and AFTER 5:00 pm. On the extreme North End of Carolina Beach, dogs are allowed on leash 24/7 on leash. In Kure Beach, dogs are NOT allowed at any juncture. Fort Fisher allows dogs on leash on the beach 24/7. Please be responsible to follow all town pet ordinances and have an awareness as to which beach you are on at all times!

•There is a $100 non-refundable pet fee for one approved pup and a $50 pup fee for a second. There is a two-dog maximum unless an exception is granted. Cats are not allowed on premises. If inquiring about a different pet request, please ask!

•Any interactions between your furry child and other neighbors (animal OR human) are completely at your discretion (and *liability). Please be a responsible pup owner and protect yourselves and others as may be necessary!

•Pups are NEVER allowed on any furniture. (*Single biggest added charge)

•Be sure to use a broom or vacuum if your buddy sheds in excess.

•Do NOT let your pup bark excessively in any multi-unit environment.

•ALWAYS pick up after your pup IMMEDIATELY.

•If the home/apartment has an outdoor shower, please use it to rinse off your pup after a day of fun.

A true gem in paradise :)
My family booked this property for the first time from 9/12/24-9/15/24. From the moment I booked, I started noticing the weather changing and looking like rain our entire visit. I reached out to Dale, who was fantastic. He offered different days to come down, and was just so friendly, quick to respond, and an absolute great guy. This is a pup friendly home, with two bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 bath and full kitchen. It is absolutely adorable, very tidy, and super comfy. The enclosed porch area was perfect for my two doggies, one who is a pittie. I was concerned when I first booked, because so many rentals will not allow pit bulls, and Dale assured me that would never be the case with his properties, as he is a pit bull dad himself. That was so wonderful to hear. We absolutely loved this rental home. It was literally within steps to a public beach access and has a large yard for walking your pups. Everything about this home is perfect and we could live there forever. We did not want to leave and cannot wait to return. If you are looking for a cute little beach home for your family including your pups, then look no further. You will not be disappointed. We got to meet Dale before heading out and he was just as hospitable in person as over messages. He loves families, he loves fur babies, and he truly wants everyone who rents from him to have a fantastic vacation. This is our go to from now on. Our gem in paradise!!!!

Had an excellent stay at Sandy Paws! Dale was a great host, house was accurately described and spotless upon arrival. Dogs enjoyed the beach, and the outdoor shower and kiddie pool were perfect to clean them up after a morning or evening of swimming or playing in the surf. Location was 10 out of 10! Two minute walk to the beach and two minute drive to the boardwalk. There’s also a little corner store half a block away that has great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pancakes and French Toast. Their lunch sandwiches looked good too, but didn’t have a chance to try them. Overall had an excellent stay and would definitely rent from Dale again!

We had never been to North Carolina before and This was our first time and it did not disappoint. We absolutely loved this place. It was very clean. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. It's exactly as it shows in the listing. Very short walk to the beach. They had boogie boards, beach chairs, a wagon, and all kinds of beach gear to use The shower that is outside is great to wash all the sand off. The fact that you can bring your fur babies is amazing too. We will definitely be staying here again. We absolutely loved it! It was perfect! Highly recommend!

Couldn’t have asked for a better location, just a few steps from public access to the beach. We enjoyed our week so much, house was cute and did all we needed it to do since we spent a lot of time at the beach. It was nice knowing we had found a such a pet friendly vacation spot, loved that the most! Just know if you are staying with older kids it could get a little cramped if you spent a lot of time at the house but definitely not a deterrent for us to stay again.

Property was perfect for our family of 3 and our dog. Beach access is very close so we could see the sunrise every day. Property description was accurate, but pay attention. I only did at the last minute so we were sure to pack linens, towels, etc. Kitchen was well stocked, even had spices and two coffee makers - one Keurig and a regular one under the sink. We remembered to bring paper towels, but forgot a dish towel, so be sure to remember to pack that as well. Dale was super responsive to all of our questions and very quick with his replies. It was a perfect getaway and we hope to be back next summer.

Close to the beach. Place is kept very well. Excellent place to stay. Front porch with a door is a great little locked space for the puppy to hang out. We'll managed place with very friendly and prompt responses. We had a great time.
