"Sandy Paws Lower" Pup Friendly, boat parking, and 100 ft to the Beach!

“Sandy Paws” Lower is a Pet Friendly duplex managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and is the perfect beach location to bring the ENTIRE family, paws, boats and ALL! This 2 bed/1.5 Lower Duplex is just one row back and less than 100 feet (or paws) from our sandy shores, a moderate walk to downtown CB, and all the SEA sights, sounds, and experiences imaginable!

The space;

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to the North End, Downtown CB, and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. One block Up and Over on Canal Drive is a public dock with an ICWW Kayak launch!

Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a large inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

The home is a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everyone! Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while vacationing with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bed/1.5 bath home opens up into a large, newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked with all of the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap/shampoo/lotion are left in the bathroom of each bath as well as 1 starter roll of TP in each bathroom, 1 roll of PT, 2 garbage bags per garbage, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, dryer sheets, hand soap, dish soap, a sponge, Cafe' Bustelo, Tazo Tea, and pure cane sugar in each kitchen.

The home's ONE QUEEN and ONE FULL + TWIN bunk bed consists of pillow topped encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

There is one smart TV in each room to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our guests to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. If you notice something missing please let us know!

The outdoor shower is located at the front of the building to help get that sand off of those toes! There are a variety of miscellaneous beach items on the lower left of the home for all guests to enjoy!

Guest access;

The YARD: The backyard/front yard is intended for both floors to be able to congregate, BBQ, play, and have a blast. Please do NOT let your pets loose. Feel free to utilize the front yard, side yard, or any number of amazing neighborhood walks to help your furry child relieve themselves.

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own HOME (never shared) along with a private deck/patio. The front yard is shared by BOTH suites and should not be used for pets to run loose unattended. Proper pet etiquette and owner responsibility should be followed at all times!

PARKING: Each RESERVATION will have access to TWO assigned parking spaces.

Neighborhood overview;

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and one block from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set eight blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities, and dining.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around;

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has several vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Rentals @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute best vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure guests can spend more time enjoying themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella and chair rentals, Hot Ticket Fishing Charters, Salty Dog Yoga, Beachside Express Services, Amy’s Rise N Shine, and Griffin Cleaning and linens.

•Linens (sheets, bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, floor towels, pillowcases, etc.) along with pillows and a summer comforter ARE included in your suite rental! Prior to departure, please assist our linen team by beginning a load before hitting to road!

Carolina Beach

The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL homes are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

• SWRE contractual quiet hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may allow more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all guests, locals, and neighbors alike have an enjoyable experience.

•There is a $100 non-refundable pet fee for one approved pup and a $50 pup fee for a second. There is a two-dog maximum unless an exception is granted. Cats are not allowed on premises. If inquiring about a different pet request, please ask!

•April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the Carolina Beach during restricted hours of BEFORE 9:00 am and AFTER 5:00 pm. On the extreme North End of Carolina Beach, dogs are allowed on leash 24/7 on leash. In Kure Beach, dogs are NOT allowed at any juncture. Fort Fisher allows dogs on leash on the beach 24/7. Please be responsible to follow all town pet ordinances and have an awareness as to which beach you are on at all times!

Had an excellent stay at Sandy Paws! Dale was a great host, house was accurately described and spotless upon arrival. Dogs enjoyed the beach, and the outdoor shower and kiddie pool were perfect to clean them up after a morning or evening of swimming or playing in the surf. Location was 10 out of 10! Two minute walk to the beach and two minute drive to the boardwalk. There’s also a little corner store half a block away that has great coffee, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pancakes and French Toast. Their lunch sandwiches looked good too, but didn’t have a chance to try them. Overall had an excellent stay and would definitely rent from Dale again!

We had never been to North Carolina before and This was our first time and it did not disappoint. We absolutely loved this place. It was very clean. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. It's exactly as it shows in the listing. Very short walk to the beach. They had boogie boards, beach chairs, a wagon, and all kinds of beach gear to use The shower that is outside is great to wash all the sand off. The fact that you can bring your fur babies is amazing too. We will definitely be staying here again. We absolutely loved it! It was perfect! Highly recommend!

Couldn’t have asked for a better location, just a few steps from public access to the beach. We enjoyed our week so much, house was cute and did all we needed it to do since we spent a lot of time at the beach. It was nice knowing we had found a such a pet friendly vacation spot, loved that the most! Just know if you are staying with older kids it could get a little cramped if you spent a lot of time at the house but definitely not a deterrent for us to stay again.

Property was perfect for our family of 3 and our dog. Beach access is very close so we could see the sunrise every day. Property description was accurate, but pay attention. I only did at the last minute so we were sure to pack linens, towels, etc. Kitchen was well stocked, even had spices and two coffee makers - one Keurig and a regular one under the sink. We remembered to bring paper towels, but forgot a dish towel, so be sure to remember to pack that as well. Dale was super responsive to all of our questions and very quick with his replies. It was a perfect getaway and we hope to be back next summer.

Shabby Chic Beach Cottage
We enjoyed our stay here. The home is definitely older, but we didn't mind. When on vacation, we don't spend a lot of time inside. The house was well equipped with cooking utensils and appliances, but we couldn't get the toaster to work. The main bathroom was pretty cramped, not much counter space. Its good for a family with younger children, no more than 2. Ours are 6 and 10, and I dont believe we would have been comfortable if they were older. Be aware that the palmetto bugs are no joke! They're HUGE! This was our first time experiencing them. Even my bug-obsessed 10 year old flipped out the first time he saw one. They're harmless though, and he actually collected a few to study then let them go when we left. Overall, this was a great place for our family of 4. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

We loved our stay at “Sandy Paws” and being able to bring our two chocolate labs. The place was clean and just a quick bike ride to all the shops and stores on the main strip. AC worked great and the kitchen had everything we needed. The added outside shower was awesome for rinsing off sand when we came back from the beach, and the fenced in porch was a nice place to relax with the pups in the evenings without worrying about them being able to run off. We also loved being a bit farther down the strip on the beach, as we were never near big crowds despite it being a busy July week. We would absolutely stay here again!

Great vacation
So close to the beach. Great covered front porch to relax on and walking distance to the boardwalk. Had a great vacation. Having a grill in the yard to cook was awesome. Booking and check in was easy and Dale was very helpful and responsive . We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect for a small family!
We just finished a fantastic week at the beach! The house was perfect for our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed and the living room was comfy for the one rainy day we needed to stay inside. We have a Newfoundland who especially enjoyed the cold tile floors! Our older kid loved the top bunk and younger kid was safer on the bottom bunk. We had our own space which was private and spacious, too. We were literally one block from the beach access on both sides. My one quibble was the checkout time was initially listed online as 11 am but we found out we had to leave by 10 per the house notebook. No biggy, really, but I wanted to account for the lost star. Just so others aren’t surprised, this house does not have a dishwasher. We were fine hand washing dishes, though. Also, we swept the floors at least once a day and all shoes were left at the door to cut down on sand in the unit. It is the beach though—sand is part of the experience. All in all, a fantastic trip!

Beach week June 2021
This place was wonderful my friends and I had a great stay. Place was clean, decently stocked for what we needed, very close access to the beach and super pet friendly. Our only complaints would be the beds are not comfortable and you hear everything that’s happening upstairs. If the beds get upgraded I would definitely stay here every chance I get!

Great time!!
The house was perfect for us! Right next to the beach access, and very close to great food and shops. Quiet and family oriented. We will definitely stay again. The host was awesome at communicating about all aspects of our stay.

Family friendly for everyone in the family
We were pleasantly surprised. First, the property manager Dale went above and beyond keeping us up to date with town policies/ status during Covid-19 changes. The property was very clean on arrival and we felt totally comfortable. I might have missed it in the listing but the washer and dryer in unit were a surprise and great for washing all our linens before packing to bring home. We had a hard time keeping the floor clean (first time On vacation with our pup) I think because the front driveway, yard and even the Outdoor shower were all in sand so it tracked everywhere, But that was our only issue. Even the front patio had a lock on the Screen door, so our dog could sit out with the kids and we didn’t have to worry or keep him on a chain. Great location. It’s not the Ritz, but for the price, definitely exceeded our expectations.
