Heaven on Earth

Words can't describe the beauty of this place. The location is one of a kind setting on the shores of quator lake. From this location you can go to many other areas of interest in Nicaragua. The security staff here was friendly and very attentive. They did our laundry, Vegeta scrub, and clean her car and went and got us gas we couldn't be happier.

Wish I could have stayed longer!

We had a party of 10. No complaints, property was amazing, breathtaking views and wonderful staff. Pool was great! We used the kayaks and went for a swim in the lagoon, staff was very helpful during the stay. Recommend 4x4 vehicles only as it can be a climb just getting out of the area and the man charging to get into the area-he charges each time you leave and come back but he is not tied to the property at all just an FYI. Wish we could have stayed longer and would definitely come back.

Perfect spot for a big group

The house was beautiful, three of the four rooms with an amazing view. It was very quiet and peaceful. There were many areas to spend time together as a group. there are lots of stairs though so be prepared to have some exercise. When the power went out, which can happen, there was a backup generator. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook. It surpassed our expectations. We will definitely visit again.

Extremely breathtaking

I planned A vacation with my family on August 14 till the 21st. Since our arrival the host Kenia and staff Made my family and myself welcomed. Kenya was so wonderful and she took her time to explain and walk us through the whole house. The house is breathtaking and it was so clean. All I can say is that I would definitely and most likely referring this place to any family and friends that I have to let them know that they would enjoy their time in this beautiful place. Casa del sol was a relaxing and peaceful place to wake up in the morning. I could just keep going on how my experience was in such a beautiful y. Thank you for all of your hospitality for my family and my self . Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was a wonderful experience at Casa del Sol.

Our party consisted of nine people, including four adults and five children. We stayed for two weeks and had an amazing time. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with kindness and respect. We mostly spend our time at the pool and at night in the kitchen cooking. The pool was perfect for our boys. The The staff was professional and extremely helpful. The beds and rooms were comfortable and pleasant. It was hot, and the air conditioning in the bedrooms at night was an excellent relief. The house does need some updates, but nothing that would keep you from having a great time. The housekeeper was absolutely amazing. She was a big part of our enjoyment of our stay. Everything was clean daily. At night, security would make his rounds, which, of course, made us feel safe. The current staff that is in place was the key to a great experience. We had several requests, and every single one was met. We made memories that will last us a lifetime. We will definitely be staying here again. Our only mistake was not staying longer!

Better than expected

In the last years, we have rented accommodations in Rivas, Ometepe, SAN Juan del Sur and Montelimar however, none of them come even close to this property, the owners attention to details and the people that take care of the property and the guest. The cleanest property by far. We also had the good fortune of having Rita cook our meals( extra). Not only was the food delicious but it gave us the opportunity to enjoy our time at “ Casa del Sol” without worrying about the preparation of our meals. Lastly, we all enjoyed our stay so much that we recommend this place 100%

Trouble in Paradise

While the view was stunning and the onsite staff were courteous and helpful, that was the extent of our positive experience at this property. There is a small house on the property next to the pool that is under construction. There was a large crew of workers with construction going on all day long. We were uncomfortable to use the pool and our young children couldn't nap with all the noise. When we asked the owner about it, she acted like it was the house next door when it is clearly on the same property and only steps away from the pool. The main house was infested with termites and ants, the owner also acted like this was to be expected "because it's Nicaragua and in a reserve". We stay in Nicaragua often, and no, it is not expected that you pay to stay in a house where you are sleeping with termites in your bed because you are in a reserve in Nicaragua. This is completely unacceptable for a house we paid for and cannot use the beds. The property owner offered to come fumigate the house with my 3 infants sleeping inside. After a night with termites in the beds, we decided to pack up and leave. Upon trying to leave, because it was before our planned check out date, we were held hostage. The security guard refused to let us leave and held my whole family on the steep inclined driveway saying we couldn't go until the property manager came to look around and make sure we didnt steal anything. I never felt so insulted, unsafe, and unclean in a place where I paid to be a guest

Hi Amanda and Joseph, We are truly sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Indeed, we are in a dry tropical forest, in a nature reserve and you visited in rainy season. The videos I saw with the bugs appeared that you had the doors and windows open at night and the lights were on so of course insects are attracted to this. We follow the MINSA protocol for fumigation. The MINSA inspector came the day after you departed and found no signs of an infestation. The "large crew" (4 men) who were working on the house next to us left within 30 minutes of your message to me. I apologized and offered to comp you for the extra guests you had the first night. I think what this gets down to (and is a theme when we don't receive a five star rating), is your plan was to have a LOT of people stay at the house as evidenced by the first night when you had 12 vs. the 7 people you indicated on the reservation. Our house rules are very clear about the number of guests allowed and clearly did not meet your expectations of "we should be able to have as many people as we want". Speaking of unsafe, we too felt it was unsafe that you requested to have the doorknobs turned around in the bedroom so you could lock your children in the bedroom. In the event of an emergency this could have created an issue getting the children to safety. We offered to set up our childproofing protocol with the stairs and bannisters but you declined for us to do this. We are sorry the property did not work out for you. My recommendation for your future vacations stays would be to review and understand the house rules when you accept them and be civil in your communication with our employees and me. Threats are never a good negotiation strategy.

Beautiful w/beautiful view! Not kid or older people friendly, inside &outside stairs mainly. Pool is NOT for children/some adults. The many stairs to the public lake are rocky as the entry into the lake! No beach! Constant workers around the house. The casa directly in view of master bedroom has workers. Guard shack is in view of the master bathroom. We all felt exposed! Kept curtains upstairs closed which defeated, the view! As stated in a 2023 review, the staff definitely watches you! Its not feeling of privacy but monitoring! Also, a dog that poops in the yard. The owner: very responsive. Gave great suggestions. BUT when character/ethics was to be shown, she was HORRIBLE! My 7y/o wet the bed. Tamera emailed she wouldn't charge me. She understood it was an accident. There were other things (glass, vase, etc) we did break. throughout the 8 days she email me let me know what we broke & the price! No problem! The white couch ($54 charge) I disagreed! Morning of departure, I Zelled her $204 for the agreed damage! She put a dispute into VRBO for over $100 Double the cost of the couch! She wanted the cleaning of the mattress and other damaged items. I showed VRBO AND MY BANK the emails of her saying she would not charge for the mattress AND the 2 different stories she told me(all email) how the damage to the couch was done! Her $100+ was declined! I have a good reputation with VRBO & hosts! Many stays & NEVER this experience! Honesty is not her best policy!!!!!

We regret any inconvenience caused. Please allow me to address some of your issues from my perspective. 1. Communication Before Arrival: I wanted to make sure your stay would be perfect and promptly responded to all 75 of your messages. 2. Additional Charges: Zelle covers the outdoor light broken, additional AC usage, and broken dishes/glasses. The other amount was for professional cleaning the sofa, broken pottery, etc. The charges were not declined. 3. Damage to Sofa: This happened on the 5th day of your stay. It's unfortunate that you were so triggered to insist your children did not do the scribbles and are attacking my character for holding you accountable. The confusion "changing our story" was the staff initially thought it was ink pen. It was only when the upholstery cleaner arrived it was correctly identified as pencil. I shared this information to you but you did not respond. 4. Staff and Services: You seemed grateful to have our staff waiting on you. We were all surprised to read in your comments you didn't like them around because you certainly seemed to take advantage of all of them, including expecting them to take care of your children. 5. Privacy Concerns: The small window in the master toilet room seems adequately positioned for privacy. It is on the 2nd floor and 5 ft off the ground. With all bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 3 of the bedrooms on the downward slope no one has expressed this concern. We will examine to confirm.

La Laguna

The place was incredible beautiful! The space to host for my family to come and visit was just perfect ! One thing / advise: when you check in, please count every single cup, utensils, and plates, because if there is one missing @ checkout, they will charge you for it. They charge you $10 for the additional people coming to stay with you during the day, not sure if that’s a thing or what, but I paid extra. You need a 4X4 vehicle, so please no matter where you rent, make sure you have your right vehicle! Other than that, the house is very beautiful! And we all loved it !

Regarding the charges for guests, this is in the agreement that we charge extra:-) We have to do this because in the past we experienced up to 50 extra guests coming for a day for a big party without notice so a few people spoiled things for the rest of the people...

Great family getaway!

We spent the weekend at Tamara's place with a big group consisting of 3 families. There was something for everyone and so many places to hang out and relax. The pictures don't do it justice. Tamara was a very attentive host, and she also had a property manager who was available when we needed. We are looking forward to coming back again. I would highly recommend staying here.
