Not as good as it could be - be careful

We booked two nights on hotels.com a day before we arrived and received all the notification etc. However, when we arrived, the managers had no idea that we were coming. They also didn't speak any english (fair enough) so it was difficult explaining to them that we had made a booking. Even worse - they eventually told us it would cost us 90 Euros a night yet we had already paid 130 Euros online for each night....which included breakfast. However, there was no breakfast as the restaurant wasn't open. We had the place to ourselves, which was nice but the accomodation is extremely basic. World's smallest shower! If anyone had been next door we would have heard every footstep and cough as it was a shared wooden cabin. However, the farm was fantastic....totally legit and that's why we stayed for our kids. So a great location, has a lot of potential, but we had a bad experience as we clearly overpaid by a significant amount and it just wasn't worth how much we were charged. While they didn't do this intentionally, we were definitely ripped off.

Dear Danielle, thank You for choosing us! We are glad you liked our farm, especially your kids. I apologize for the things that disappointed you, however I also need to tell our version. First of all we received your booking the day before your arrival at 7 pm (not 2 days before as you said). That is why we didn't know yet about your booking, moreover because Expedia-Hotel.com do not send us any notification that we received a new booking (as I already told You at the phone). We have to log in into our personal area to find out our new bookings from Expedia, and on Monday in October it is pretty unusual receiving a booking (it was also rainy) so I didn't log in for 24 hours. I apologize for this. I do speak English, of course not perfect, but we could explain and talk each other. However on Monday I had to go to Salerno for a 2-days lesson, so I wasn't in the Farm, and we could only talk to the phone. About the price, I think it is normal that if there is intermediary you pay also his fee. If you booked straight to us it would be cheaper. That is not my rule, but it is market rule. I also told you I tried to solve this problem but I couldn't because you already payed, but it is not my fault, because sometimes guests don't pay at the moment of the booking, but only at the check-in. We never served breakfast, we only do it like you did, so you had no downgraded service, that is standard for us. I am sorry this was not your ideal room, I know in Australia everything is very large, you have and use more space than us. Thank you for your suggestions and for reviewing us.
