Mixed experience

Publié le 10 juill. 2017 sur Expedia
The place is not a hotel. It is a historical castlelike palace which the owners decided to rentout in part (3 rooms). There is no reception, no staff, no front desk. Only 1 room has air conditioning. There is no parking, you have to walk up to the pedestrian only plaza, there is no indication, no marking, no sign. There is no one to talk to. The two old custodians meet you at the door for 2 minutes when you ring an unmarked bell. The hot water takes 10 or 15 minutes to be ready, there is no elevator but 2 long ramps of stairs, it is dark and The key doesn't work well. The facility is ancient, literally, and as such is both attractive and unpleasant. It is very suggestive as a historical location, but one would want modern day amenities and comfort, not a trip back in time. As much as the place could 've been amazing, the reality of it forces me to give it a negative review. The owner should invest in modernizing the place.

Palazzo in Cerveteri

Publié le 12 mai 2017 sur Hotels
This residence (so not a full service hotel) was in an amazing Palazzo. We were happy staying there for one night so that we could be close to the local Etruscan Necropolis. You cannot beat this residence for feeling like a Renaissance Italian aristocrat. I don't think it would have been great for more than one night or for anyone needing a lot of amenities but it was a great experience. To be more specific, we had a massive room and bathroom right off of the main (gargantuan) hall. We seemed to be the only people staying there (off season) so there wasn't a lot of socializing. We were offered breakfast but didn't stay to have it because we were on a tight schedule so I can't comment on the food. Not sure the people who ran the place were on site because they seemed to disappear once we checked it. Also - there isn't a plaque on the outside of the main door so it was hard to find. I also don't think the front doorbell worked. I was lucky to reach them on my cell phone. Also, the wifi didn't work. As I said, great for one night in an historic setting.

A jorney back in time

Publié le 16 juin 2016 sur Hotels
We had a problem with no water on arrival because of general water shortage in town. The following day the matter was resolved . The furniture did not reflect the historical importance of the building but to walk around in the old palace was fascinating.

Aristocratic palace

Publié le 20 mai 2016 sur Hotels
This is an antique palace in the heart of the centro storico of Cerveteri, which is the major part of its appeal. The rooms are understandably old fashioned, but none the less very comfortable. Very quite and close to the main attraction, the Etruscan museum. The famous necropolis is a short drive from the hotel, or a pleasant long walk. The owner recommended a wonderful restaurant, Da Bibbo Osteria Rivisitata, and it was one of the best dining experiences of this recent trip and an outstanding value.

A palace for our self for a ridicluoss low price. A dream to find a place like this. We expected much less for this price. We will for sure get back to Cerveteri because of this accomodation
