Charlieu is an excellent small town that offers numerous historical monuments, including the exceptional Benedictine Abbey with two Romanesque portals and the Monastery of the Cordeliers. Culinary wise, Charlieu has delicious pastries, cheeses and wine to offer and will fill your stomach with treats. Numerous castles surround Charlieu, Drée, La Roche, La Clayette are just a few of them. Numerous A large number of hiking trails, including the Way of St. James cross Charlieu and will take you further along the Loire.
