Disappointing stay.
There was a bit of restoration work going on. As you entered the lobby, there was a large plastic sheet covering one side of the lobby. The smell of paint was immediate. There was work going on in the area by the fireplace and there was orange tape blocking off a section. The indoor pool was also undergoing "restoration", and so it was not available. We also did not know it was "pet friendly", and we witnessed one occasion where two owners had their dogs barking at each other. They advertised serving tea during the 4 to 6 pm time, which included fresh cookies. We arrived at 5. Tea was available, but no cookies. When I asked, I was simply told they were none. I would think if you knew how many people you had as guests, you would be stocked. I know its a little thing, but it would have been nice if they had mentioned something on their website about the restoration work. After a long day (8 hours) on the road, it was not the best of greetings. We felt our room was fine. But it must have been a long week for staff as well, as both of the people I spoke with seemed tired and did not greet us with a smile. I might would try the English Inn at some point in the future, but for now, if we are in Charlottesville again, I will go elsewhere.

I booked this hotel because they offered an indoor pool. Upon checking in I was told it was closed. I would not have stayed here had I known the pool was closed. Swimming is the one thing my kids always look forward to.

It's convenient to the interstate and main highway to get where we needed to go. The extra living space in the one-bedroom suite was perfect for our Christmas gathering. The lack of flatware and other essentials in the kitchen was frustrating. The heater didn't work properly in one of the suites we'd reserved and part of our party got moved to the other building. That was somewhat inconvenient. It was fine for this trip but we probably wouldn't stay here again.

Nice property, room was clean, staff was very nice. Very good breakfast. The property is undergoing a lot of renovations. It’s good to see the owners putting money back into the property. Very convenient location. We will stay here again for sure.

The property was being renovated so the pool and some areas were taped off. The hotel is a mix of renovated and tired. However, it's conveniently located and pleasant.

I have paid almost twice what it cost here and the accommodations were just as good. Only thing is we didn't have any plastic utensils or dishware which would have helped as they don't carry them for rooms. Forgot that some places don't have them available

We have stayed here several times. Each time has been fantastic. The rooms are clean and the hotel is renovating. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. It puts most hotel “complimentary” breakfasts to shame.

The staff was welcoming, theroom was a good size, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioner/heater was quite the breakfast was better than most places. The hotel is currently having renovations.and the pool was not available for use. I would stay again.

Comfortable stay, Great value
Although this is an older hotel, our rooms were quite updated with very comfortable beds and quality linens, excellent pressure in the shower with instant hot water, and unexpected perk of fridge and microwave. Complimentary breakfast was also better than generally expected. Only complaint was that I didn’t know the hotel was in the middle of some renovations, and wasn’t able to utilize the indoor pool.
