Great place. Shower pressure is extremely strong. A/c in room did not keep a very consistent temp but was still comfortable. Fairly recent renovations. Breakfast was great.

Construction during stay, but good overall

Quick and easy check-in. Construction in the main area and hallways was wrapping up but messy. The paint on the door to the room extremely difficult to open/close. Hopefully the construction is completed soon and the facilities are great.

Better for dogs than people

This is a nice, somewhat older place in the midst of a renovation, in a nondescript spot just off the highway but very convenient to UVA and restaurants on the commercial road. It's also very dog-friendly--too much so, I'd say. We had a small-sounding dog in the room next to us that barked when we passed in the hall. We didn't mind that, but when it barked at sunrise, that was the end of our sleep. Couldn't the dogs be confined to one wing of this large hotel?

The property is going through a renovation which they were very upfront about. Having stayed at many big chains over the last several years thought I’d give an old favorite a try. Glad I did, front desk staff were friendly and attentive. Some areas were under construction but everything was clean. For the first time in years there was maid service on a daily basis. Seeing the free breakfast at chains continually sinking to new lows, it was nice to see real bagels and attentive personnel in the breakfast area, which wasn’t the lobby. Good place to stay will be back.

Another pleasant week

Even while they update the paint jobs in the hallways and make some other renovations, the experience is quite cozy. One of the best hotel breakfasts in the area; just know the menu doesn’t change much. some outdoor truck activity at 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. dumpster collection, but often quick and probably won’t affect heavy sleepers.
