This hotel was probably lovely 30 years ago. Unfortunately it is now outdated and getting rundown. The photos sell the place too well

The staff were nice the reception area was lovely the garden at the back was really nice. Then I go to my room to find the filthiest carpet I have ever seen the I see I have a double bed when I paid for a queen mould round the windows and they looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years and if that wasn't bad enough a black bug ran across my bed I was furious went to complain and ask for another room only to be told they don’t even do queen beds at the hotel they have no other rooms left and someone will come and vac the bug up what an absolute joke I booked four rooms for my guests for my birthday and they were all filthy I certainly will not be going back

The carpet in the room was filthy there were crumbs all on the window sill paid for a queen size bed ended up with a double because the hotel don’t even do queen beds apparently the staff were nice the spa could do with an up grade overall I will not be returning to this hotel

Avoid at all costs

Hotel smells musty from entering the door. Greeted by leftovers from room service outside the door of a room a few doors away that was still there the following day. The room had a blood stain on the carpet as you cross the threshold. The toilet didnt flush and no hot water at 7am. Didn't want to chance the breakfast. Young girl on reception with a very painful looking black eye totalled 3 staff members we saw during our stay. The first being the receptionist on arrival who was smoking by the front door. I was really looking forward to my stay a this 'spa' hotel. Shocking is the only word i can use

No wow factor, but a very reasonable place to stay. A couple of small issues that's couldn't be resolved but the breakfast was good, the staff pleasant and the room clean, the power shower was great

The Mollington Banastre is a once-grand property in sore need of renovation in some areas. The reception, and downstairs areas were in good order, but the bedroom we stayed in was scruffy! It was a pet-friendly room, so I didn't expect it to be plushly furnished, but I also didn't expect the curtains to be in tatters! On the flip side, the breakfast was good and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. At £100/night on average, plus a per surcharge of £15, it was a bit steep!
