Fantastic gem in Chester

Very cozy and Gene was so helpful and we made the most of our time thanks to his suggestions. Would love to go back again soon!

Nice but...
Publié le 12 mars 2024 sur HomeAwayThe idea of the cabin was wonderful but it had a lot of quirks. First, you had to bring your own sheets and towels.
Second, there were cobwebs from 1974, and having all the mouse traps around the cabin was not romantic. Then we had snow and the driveway was only half plowed so you couldn't turn around and go down the driveway nose first, you had to back down the driveway and then the power went out. Finally, you hoped all the electrical wiring was to code because there were outlets and plugs everywhere.

Yep, the cabin is quirky. You might have known that if you read the VRBO listing and literature I promptly sent you after booking. It specifically stated that the cabin was not a hotel/motel and you had to bring your own linens/towels. Also noted, besides previous guests who have left five star reviews, … mice love the cabin too. They don’t pay, so they are asked to leave.
It’s amazing that you saw cobwebs from 1974, because the cabin wasn’t even built then. Maybe they were newer, and will have to be eliminated. As for the numerous electrical outlets & plugs, … they were created for your convenience.
It’s unfortunate that I cannot predict the weather & that a wet, Spring snowstorm occurred halfway through your visit and felled trees in the neighborhood that eliminated power all around town. Guess that was my fault.
For the first time in twenty years, this very muddy, wet “Global Warming” Spring season, prevented the snowplow vender from plowing his normal driveway turnaround path. Sorry, you were the recipient of this odd and rare occurrence. Also sorry that you failed to mention that I offered to give you a free weekend for your inconvenience because you lost one night.
I try to be more than fair to my visitors.

Nice cabin

Thanks for the positive review! I’m happy the cabin is situated fairly close to several great downhill ski areas (Okemo, Magic, Stratton & Bromley) and a little further to Killington. Glad you had a chance to enjoy the mountains. 🌲⛄️🌲🏂🌲⛷️🌲

Family friendly cabin

Gene welcomed us with news of the local winter carnival and we had a blast with kids riding in a horse drawn sleigh and on mini snowmobiles. Kids loved the cozy cabin. I loved the vibe, cabin made me nostalgic for a stranger things episode ;)

Yeah, what’s better than an old fashioned, rustic, real log cabin with a wood stove, that’s sportsman themed with antlers, a ruffed grouse, a front porch with rocking chairs, board games, a guitar & accordion for your use, a couple of fish and a singing deer on the wall? Well, it’s my cabin, that will bring back fond memories of a past era, yet let you enjoy all the modern conveniences you are used to, like electricity, fresh well water, warm furnaces, a refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, 2 TV’s, 2 DVD players, 2 smart speakers, flush toilets, and a shower for two.
Glad you and the children loved the cabin, just as I do. Come back again!

Cozy Cabin
Publié le 25 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayI spent the weekend at Eugene’s cabin and it was exactly as described in the listing. The cabin was very clean and was well stocked. The woodstove kept the house really warm and there was plenty of firewood. We will definitely be back again.

Well, I’m glad you enjoyed your visit. I strive to make it pleasant, cozy, & comfortable for visitors, just as I do for myself when I utilize the cabin personally.
I like a clean place with a well stocked supply of amenities. That’s why I try to provide the same for my guests. Thanks for your comments and desire to come back again. The cabin is great during every season of the year (even mud season, though some folks would disagree with me on that. - ha, ha!).

Comfortable and relaxing!

The accommodations were just what we needed with a secluded feel and the amenities we can't live without (internet and a flush toilet!!) :) Gene was easily accessible and entirely friendly! Glad you enjoyed the cabin! Yeah, I had to decide what was more important: WiFi in an Outhouse or WiFi in a warm bathroom with a flush toilet. It was a tough choice, but chose the latter. Thought about putting a crescent moon cutout in the bathroom door, but decided for privacy sake, not to do that.

Anniversary Weekend in the Woods
Publié le 18 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had a great time at Gene's cabin. It was small and homey and perfect for our getaway. The singing deer head by the fireplace is great fun and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch with our morning coffee watching the leaves fall. It is easy to find and near quite a few amenities while still feeling remote. The kitchen had everything we needed to make dinner our first night there. Be sure to sign the guest book and be surprised how long Gene has been renting this cabin out!

Wow, you found the old guest book! Yes, I’ve been letting folks enjoy my cabin for quite some time. Since on-line reviews came aboard, people hardly write their wonderful experiences in the book anymore, … let alone find it on a shelf. Glad you did!
