Lovely atmospheric pub with rooms right at the northern edge of the historic central district. The room was a nice size, but no really good place to put the luggage I was living out of. Mugs for hot beverages, but no glasses. Be aware: no washcloths. Bring your own if you need one.

Great, central location. Nice room, staff helpful and a good breakfast.
Only downside was the number of stairs to our room on the second floor. I would suggest that if you have mobility issues, contact the hotel and request a ground floor room.
Good central location. Walking distance to everything. 31 Rooms in various parts of historical building and annexe at reasonable prices. Good food service and atmospheric pub.
This place is ok, well placed near the centre of town. It was my second stay here; the first time I had a perfectly nice quiet room towards the back of the building. This time I was in Room #1 which is directly above the bar area and very noisy. I was told the hotel was full and there were no other vacant rooms. If you do stay here, try to ascertain which room you will be given. Otherwise it was fine, I particularly liked the rain-head shower.
Room itself (no 17) was clean and pleasant. Very noisy as door opened straight onto the street. Twice we had people attempting to get into the room…. Two very drunk guests argued outside then tried to open our door. I jumped up and shouted at them it wasn’t their room. Unfortunately when I’ve checked the door was shut to I believe I inadvertently pushed the door latch - around 20 mins later someone literally walked into the room
As we were just getting back to sleep! He apologised and stumbled back out. The hotel manager dismissed my concerns on hotels.com messenger and said it was impossible for it to happen. Maybe check your CCtV and see for yourself David. I’ll accept an apology when you see I’m telling the truth! more visible signage on the door that it’s room 17 and not the entrance to the other hotel area may be helpful also! Won’t be returning which is a shame as the location and breakfast were great.
I stayed for only one night and did not partake of everything on offer but was very happy with the room, and cleanliness. The staff should get a special mention because they were all friendly and welcoming

An excellent city centre choice in an historic old coaching inn. The room was comfortable clean and the breakfast good albeit limited to an English breakfast /cereals. Great bar and choice of drinks. A really enjoyable stay and excellent staff.
No parking but everything you need is within a short walk. Restaurants, market, theatre is 2 minutes walk, main shopping street 5 mins stroll.
Amazing place to stay, beautiful room with a stand alone bath. Peaceful sleep on a comfortable bed.
Close to everything and walkable.
Been a pleasure to stay and celebrate a birthday
