Staff was very helpful. Biggest complaint was one of the elevators was broken which left one elevator for the whole hotel and service help. Had to ride with the garbage once.

Jock and Ronnie at the front desk took great care to ensure that I was comfortable during my stay. And earlier in the morning when I needed to check a bag so I could head to work, Tony assured me my room would be available when I returned mid afternoon. I appreciate that these gentlemen were always welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. The River Hotel has become my go-to hotel for my stays in Chicago. It’s hard to find teams that provide great service consistently AND even recognize you from stay to stay so you feel like you’re at home when you arrive. Thank you!

5 stars but 4 due to lack of social ambience

Absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel’s standard room. Beautiful marble lobby, less than stellar waiting area(felt ikea like). No bar. For a standard room, it was pretty basic. Nothing special. Clean. Friendly staff. No amenities as far as social interactions/bar. For a hotel on the Chicago riverfront I feel like you would expect a little more. I’ve had better stays at random Hilton’s in Hamptons in the middle of nowhere. That being said, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. It just seemed to lack more of a social presence.
