Stayed 2nights in private double.
Late check in email stated room would be unlocked - it wasn't. Nobody answered the phone. We had to stretch in the window to unlock the door.
The room stank. Really horrible old damp smell.
Next day we were locked out of our room with our belongings inside "pending payment" - payment had been taken online already. Took 5 phone calls to get keys to our room sorted.

I would like to respond to some of your statements, since I do not agree with them. First of all, We have send you clear instructions by email, in which we ask you to come by the reception next morning to finish your check-in where we hand you the keys. You did not come by, which was why we were unable to complete your check-in process. Second of all, you claim to already have paid online. With Expedia, you have two options: Pay online, or pay at the property. You picked the second option, and was supposed to pay at the property, which you did not.
The reception was open from 09:30 until 20:30, but you called at midnight, when all of our staff was asleep. Because of that it took us a bit longer to response.

Worst hostel I've ever stayed in
Publié le 26 nov. 2019 sur HotelsThe check-in system is non-existent and if you are a traveller you have to conjure up a phone to call someone who may not even be in the same building. I was only shown one set of toilets and didn't find out about the rest until the next day when I discovered each bathroom is closed for an hour at some point during the day. Not secure at all, as anyone could walk in the front door and then into any of the rooms that don't have a lock. Add to this that if you wish to use one of the pitiful lockers in your room, you will need an additional padlock as combination lockers were apparently too difficult to source. Contrary to the self-written description the beds are of awful quality and rickety, and I repeatedly got up in the morning covered in tiny bite marks. Fellow guests had no respect and would play music, talk, smoke, and drink until all hours of the morning. Plus the tidy room policy was not enforced at all. Free wifi and free parking are gross over-exaggerations given that they are both extremely limited. Mouldy food was left in the fridge and not cleared out by staff, and I didn't feel comfortable with leaving anything in there. At no point was it mentioned before arriving that I wouldn't be able to extend my stay as there is a maximum one-week policy, but the area was convenient, even if I hated it. To have a 7-night policy is completely ridiculous given that backpackers would probably have an extended reason to be needing a bed.

Dear Katherine,
I’m sorry that you had a bad experience at Rucksacker Hostel and you didn't like your bed. We can see that you stayed for a week and did not inform us about your unpleasant stay otherwise we could have done something to help as we get a lot of good reviews on our beds. As I talked to my colleague we heard you had to wait, sorry for that. We gave you a free room upgrade to apologise for that.
I just like to reply on some of your statements.
About the toilet we have to clean it properly every day so they will be closed during the day for 45 minutes to 1 hour but not at the same time, hopefully every hostel will clean the bathroom every day.
You might not be aware but we have a strict front door security where it is only open during reception hours. All rooms have a code lock, your room had one too, and so only guests can come into your room.
We took care of cleaning of the fridge and are stricter on the noises in the evening. In the time that you stayed here we unfortunately had a night where the guests thought they could party. Unfortunately our first warning to them was not enough and they started again but the second did the job. We can't pick our guests so you always will have some guests with bad behaviours. Same for the luggage, unfortunately you were staying with a guest that was not tidy and took more room than needed. This could happen in any hostel, we reckon.
Our 7 night policy is something we choose, some hostels have a 2 night policy.
Once again, so sorry for your bad experience and we hope that you have a safe and happy travels.
