This is a lovely room in a quaint historic large home just a few miles down the road from the Omega Institute. I stayed there b/c Omega had no more housing. Lynn was a delightful and accommodating hostess. Would definitely stay again.

Don't judge a book by it's cover
Posted Aug. 19, 2024 on HomeAwayThe listing sounded lovely online. It was different in person. The room I stayed in, had a hall bath shared by the owner. This wasn't disclosed on the listing. The porches and rooms downstairs which were listed as being available to guests were not. The room I stayed in had no external lock for when I was gone. The walls and ceilings were spackled but not painted and there were cob webs. The tub did not drain well. That said, it was close to Omega which was convenient.

If you want to use the entire house just ask we would be happy to accomindate anyone. Walls and ceiling not painted that room has been rented out a thousand times and never has anyone stated that. My wife does not use the bathroom when someone is in the twin.

Peaceful and Convenient
Posted Sep. 15, 2023 on HomeAwayMy wife and I enjoyed this very old and charming home and our host Lynn. There was so much to do nearby with the mansions and FDR Museum/Library.

I couldn't sleep
Posted May 30, 2023 on HomeAwayThe property is very nice, and was reasonably priced, particularly given that it was Memorial day weekend AND Bard college graduation, but I had two major problems:
1) I contacted the owner before booking, and asked how far away Red Hook was. I was told it was 5 miles. It was 12 miles, down small twisty roads that were not fun to drive at night. I would not have booked this property if I had known this.
2) The room with single beds has five large windows, with lovely views, but the room was in broad daylight from 5.30am. I couldn't sleep and had headaches all day. Again, I would not have booked this property if I had known this.

Fiona,
You asked me how far red hook was , not how far Bard college was, towns in this area are quite large ( look at map). the first night you were here you missed breakfast because you said you over slept the 2nd night you said you can't sleep. Look at the hundreds of reviews on this room no has ever complained about the light actually just the opposite .

Lovely!
Posted Apr. 29, 2023 on HomeAwayThe hosts were friendly and hospitable. The property is gorgeous. We were only 30 minutes from Hyde Park, which was the reason for our visit. 10 out of 10, would absolutely stay here again.

Gorgeous country setting
Posted Oct. 19, 2022 on HomeAwayThe hosts greeted us with flashlights as we were arriving past dark. They were warm welcoming and friendly. They were open to my daughter who is in college nearby spending the night with me which I appreciated. The house is great for lovers of antiques and farmhouse living but for those who require absolute cleanliness & privacy it may not be the best fit. If you stay here in the winter you will want to bring layers as the bedroom upstairs was quite chilly but it made up for that with the stunning views out the windows.
