Not Clean

Publié le 4 sept. 2022 sur HomeAway
I have never had a problem paying a cleaning fee on a listing, but I have also never stayed at a property that was so clearly neglected cleaning wise. The majority of silverware, plates, servers, etc we pulled to use had dried bits of food on them, the surfaces were so dusty it was clear they hadn’t been touched in quite a while, and there was a solid layer of dirt on a lot of things. When we messaged about the cleanliness of the food ware, the response I got back was that maybe I should run a load through the washer - if that’s the case then maybe we shouldn’t be paying a cleaning fee. It is a shame because it is an otherwise beautiful property in a beautiful location.

The house smells. The water smells. Filthy! Don't stay here, find another place.

Property was anything but clean. Poop on the toilet seat, black mold in the shower. Enough said.

old pictures of the property

Publié le 10 oct. 2021 sur HomeAway
the pictures were taken years before obviously. the lily pads were so thick and out past the dock so i could not enjoy the water with the dogs like I had planned so that was a disappointing. The place is super cute but definitely could use some TLC.

Hi Kelli, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and we wanted to share the following: - Evolve takes the accuracy of our listings seriously, and only uses professional photographers so we can be sure that our images accurately reflect each property. - The lily pads are protected by the DNR since they are filter weeds and help keep the lake clean. The listing description notes that this is a no-wake lake, but we're sorry if this caught you off guard. - The owners work hard to keep their property well-maintained and make updates when necessary. Since purchasing the property, they have added a new couch, a new rug, a new vanity in the bathroom, a new water softener, and painted. Thanks for letting us know about your stay!

Father & son quality time

Publié le 1 avr. 2021 sur HomeAway
I desperately wanted to get my 28-year-old son, who has a developmental disability, out of the house and away for a few days. We wanted to be relatively close to Ft. Wayne. (His #1 objective of the trip: see Johnny Appleseed’s grave. Hey, somebody’s gotta make that a high priority.) We landed on this very comfortable and clean lakeside cottage. With two floors and three bedrooms, there was plenty of room. The front of the house looks out on little Dragon Lake on which a pair of swans are almost always in view and the sunset viewing is awesome. The owner, Lynda, was zealously responsive to my simple question about a non-functioning DVD player that first evening. I said to not worry, that my son would find another way to watch a movie, but she was determined to remedy this and ultimately sent a repairman who got the thing operating. This was a great home-base for four days of memories with my son. We found plenty to do in the area — hiking, getting lost in crazily cluttered antique stores and discovering the amazing Auburn Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn. (This was the highlight of the week.) Oh wait ... of course there was Johnny A’s gravesite. We made our way through the crowds :) and dutifully paid our respects for about three minutes, then made the 50- some mile trip back to Dragon Lake. That was actually the week’s high point, and that’s what matters the most. And this Dragon Lake cottage was a perfect match for our father-and-son Spring Break.
