Perfect place to stay for Fort Jackson Family Day/Graduation
Publié le 8 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayMy kids and I stayed here for about 5 days for my daughter’s family day and graduation from BCT. The location is great - so close to Gate 2. Easy to drive around and find all amenities we needed. The house was great for us - beds super comfy, great shower and lovely view of the lake. Thank you for having us!

Publié le 23 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayUpon arriving bing the outside of the house looked a little run down. There are vines growing on it and some cover parts of the windows. The inside of the house is pretty nice. Beautiful hardwood floors. I have stayed in many air b and b’s. This one was not at the same standard as others. The kitchen had bear minimum utensils, the frying pan and other pots and pans looked like they were from the 1980’s. The frying pan had s scratched and needs replaced. There were no storage containers, no plastic wrap, or aluminum foil. The salt was like a rock. There was 1 towel in the kitchen. I finally found others in a hall closet. Beds were nice and comfortable. Screened in deck was nice but had cob webs all over it. It looked run down also. The lights in the bathroom were taped off and you could not use them. You had to walk clear over to the other side of the bathroom to turn lights on.
With some real maintenance and cleaning up and better stocked this could be a really nice place. I don’t think we will be back.

False advertisement/unsafe

There are nails raised up on the patio and on the railing that created a safety issue. The hot water heater is a half size and it not intended for a 2 bedroom so you only can take a10-15 min shower with 3 heads(only use 1) that drain outside the shower all over the floor. There is mold, yes mold and that causes a safety to your lungs. Roaches. There is water damage all over the place including the kitchen, black on the ceilings. The wooden floor is a trip hazard in the kitchen without even a rug to try to cover it. The chairs at the dining room table are cheaper than what Walmart carries and wobbly to the point my husband fell when sitting down. There is zero acess to the lake as they have extreme over grown vegetation. As you should be able to use the lake per there add @ the time we stayed, we could not. The bedroom towards the front is another safety issue as you have inches to get into the bed next to the wall. The beds do not fit the frames so trip hazard as well as bruising area. Holes in the closets. The door in the kitchen fell onto of my foot while cleaning the dishes so my husband had to repair it himself as the owners had zero contact with us the entire trip. Once they got their money they were done with communication period as even vrbo could not get ahold of them to put us up somewhere else, we had to sleep in the car after finding mold. Theres far more but no more room.

We find it unfortunate that you had such a horrible stay. We try to provide a great experience for all, but know that we can not please every guest that stays with us.
We are disappointed that you were unable to reach us as we have no record on our end of any type of contact until after you left the residence. We do our best to be available at all times and have provided a phone number, email, and the VRBO chat within the app as options for our guest to use to contact us. We are also less than 500 feet from the front door of the guesthouse. At no point did you use any of these methods until after your scheduled check out. Also, we followed up with you after you checked out through the app to discuss these concerns and it appeared you were capable of responding on that format. If we were allowed the opportunity to address your concerns earlier, we gladly would have done so.
We do apologize for the incident that allegedly occurred in the kitchen. We would love to know what door you are referring to because upon further inspection we are not sure which one. Our beds are set up for a king size and this our first time hearing of any issue where the guests have trouble getting in and out of the bed. We are unsure of any issues in the closet but will inspect further. We apologize for being unclear about the lake access, but we will be more clear moving forward.
The home has had leaks before we moved in, but it has been repaired. The black on the ceiling is paint from when we had the cabinets painted. As we share with all of our guests the water heater in the home is traditional and was not updated with the bathroom. It works fine, but if you choose to turn on all three shower heads the hot water does not last long. Our home is treated for pests quarterly, but critters are common in South Carolina especially if you live close to water. We will further investigate all other concerns and work towards a better experience for our future guests.
Once again we do apologize that you were so happy with your stay. We hope that you have better luck staying elsewhere if you are ever to return to South Carolina.

Perfect Location
Publié le 6 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is the perfect location for us to stay while in town for our sons basic training graduation from Fort Jackson. It was close to the base and the perfect place for him to return to after graduation. The comfortable beds, screened in porch that overlooked the lake and the luxurious shower was exactly what he needed after 10 weeks at basic training. The kitchen was big and I was able to make him a home cooked meal. The owner was friendly and accommodating. We had a great long weekend stay.

Beautiful lake house
Publié le 6 nov. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe were in Columbia to celebrate graduation from Army basic training. This house was perfect! It is minutes from Fort Jackson, which made the early mornings easy. Our soldier was only allowed a few hours off base and requested a home cooked meal, everything we needed was provided in the kitchen. The views of the lake are breathtaking, the grounds are beautiful. We had a very relaxing time.
The pictures are accurate. The host was very quick to respond to our questions. Check in and check out was very easy.
If I’m ever back in Columbia, I will definitely stay here again.
