Pool wins

The pool was the hit—it was spring break, so we imagine that played into the crowdedness, but our kid didn't care one little bit. The breakfast room was also extremely crowded and understocked. The room itself was comfortable.

No hot water and never said anything about $250 security deposit

Thank you for staying with us. It is unfortunate about the hot water, but when we are sold out and everyone leaves the pool to shower at the same time there is not much we can do. The security deposit is listed on every website, as well as in the lobby, we advise when we people call and at check in. Sorry for the confusion

Look, I normally love a Holiday Inn Express, and have stayed at many. We chose this property because of the fun pool and the reliability of what we can expect at a Holiday Inn Express. However, this one was very disappointing. The biggest problem (and it’s a big one) is that our room didn’t lock. We figured it out after we’d already stayed a night and left during the day. We came back to the room and the key wasn’t lighting up, so we tried the door and it opened without a key. We did this several times and took a video to show the staff. When we told the front desk, she said she would “look into it” and “send someone up.” We went to sleep that night with our door still not locking. Obviously from the inside we could use the latch, but if we had to leave this option would not work. That’s not just disappointing, it’s unacceptable. I don’t blame the staff. The hotel seemed understaffed, overwhelmed, and undertrained, but still, this was not ok. I plan to escalate the IHG, as really it is their problem that the facility is understaffed and no one knew how to fix this. A few other issues with the property: the pool had VERY limited seating, so we had to sit on towels on the ground, and the breakfast area also had limited seating. The breakfast was also staffed with only one employee and the hotel was very busy, so there were long lines and empty trays. Overall this was by far my worst Holiday Inn Express experience, and we would not go back to nor recommend this location.

Worst checkin EVER. 1. They charge $250 extra each room for a security deposit. 2. We got two rooms but one wasn’t ready. Nope, they didn’t know when it would be ready, nope, they wouldn’t call me to let me know it’s ready, I would just have to keep stopping in to see if it “might be available” and nope, we won’t give you a discount for being late. 3. They require wristbands to get into the pool and since we got two rooms and one wasn’t ready, half of my kids would be able to go in the pool but the other half had to sit in a room and wait until the other room was ready, but no one knows when that would be. NO APOLOGIES, nothing. Then I asked that they just refund my room and let us out of the reservation. They said sure, it’s refunded. BUT! Called later to say they were having trouble refunding it because I had booked through Expedia. I contacted Expedia who said, the hotel is giving me the runaround because it was a pay later reservation so no money went through Expedia, only the hotel and they don’t know why the hotel is acting like they can’t give a refund. When I checked out, the clerk assured me (because I asked twice) that it was already refunded. Save yourself a headache and book a room at staybridge suites!
