Beautiful place!
Publié le 1 févr. 2020 sur HotelsLa Villa M is a fantastic new option in Conakry. The staff (and especially Jibril - he is a legend!) are amazing. The rooms are new and clean. AC and hot water are great and of high standard. The area is a lovely neighbourhood, away from the craziness of downtown and close to a nice beach to end the day with the locals. The complimentary breakfast is also very generous!
The major cons for us: there is essentially no wifi. They ask that you pay about $5 for 1gb - the problem is that this device is essentially useless. Maybe maybe you can load a text on whatsapp, but good luck for anything further. In 2020, I think its unacceptable to charge for wifi (and let alone to provide inadequate service!). We ended up spending a lot of time at the Patio restaurant using wifi!
Secondly, when we left, we asked the hotel to arrange for us a taxi to the bus station. This taxi driver completely scammed us, set us up with his "friend" who was going where we were going (Sierra Leone). This "friend" basically attempted to scam us and refused to take us to the bus station, wasting 2 hours of our time in Conakry (at 5.30am!). I know this isn't exactly the fault of the hotel - but had we not arranged a car through the hotel, we would not have encountered such a stressful and difficult situation.
Overall - if they improved the wifi, I would gladly stay here again!
