Magical place and location
Publié le 31 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayThe Walsh's home is a perfect haven. Everything was exactly as noted with beautiful details to all the remodeling done. The location is on a relatively quiet road that is about 2 miles from end to end and makes a perfect walk in the AM or PM. You may have a few sheep or others who demand a photo or two. Short distance to Cong and Ballinrobe, Oughterard, and Maam area are lovely to explore. Michael stays in contact as needed as well as gives you space to explore. I will return, hopefully!

Wonderful stay!
Publié le 5 nov. 2023 sur HomeAwayOur stay at Titanic Cottage was immeasurably enhanced by the thoughtful touches in the updated property and the generosity and kindness of the owner, Michael, who greeted us upon our arrival. Michael made sure we had plenty of wood on cool nights and was available any time of day to answer our questions about how appliances work, where to purchase provisions, and to direct us to places of local interest. We were charmed that people we met on our travels in the area knew Michael and felt warmly towards him.
The cottage is sunny & handsomely restored to modern standards with updated kitchen appliances and it’s blessed with a washing machine AND a dryer. The living quarters - two bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom, a guest bathroom and a utility room - are lovely and are attached to the main cottage by an artfully enclosed walkway. The rooms are tastefully decorated with plenty of closet space. The furnishings are not overly fussy and much attention was paid to details including window treatments of local muted plaid fabric.
Cong is a charming little village with a fine butcher shop and a delightful bookstore devoted to Irish history.
We spent 11 days at the historic Titanic Cottage and enjoyed every minute of it. We brought proper rain gear and footwear so the weather never impeded our activities including hiking and biking.
We have been staying in self-catering homes for over 25 years. This cottage is among the top 2 or 3 we have visited. We recommend it unreservedly.

Titanic Cottage in Cong

After searching through many holiday cottages, this one stood out online and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful mix of old and new.
It was spotlessly clean and had many touches which we really appreciated such as white towels, plenty of quality hangers and wardrobe space and super comfy beds.
We would highly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be back!

Lovely Cottage

The cottage is beautifully updated and has a most interesting history. Michael is a wonderful host, and always there when you need him

Best Stay in Ireland
Publié le 12 août 2022 sur HomeAwayWe can’t say enough great things about how wonderful it was to stay at the Titanic Cottage. It was our best stay in Ireland. Our requirements for a property are safe, clean, and well-located. It goes well beyond those requirements. It is beautifully restored with an addition in the rear that compliments while making the cottage spacious, bright, and very well appointed with everything you could possible need. It is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, the lovely bedrooms are comfortable and very tastefully done. The closets are better than most homes. You won’t be disappointed.
Maybe even better is that Michael, the host, is a lovely, kind, and ever-helpful person. He was always available and made our stay extra special with his stories of the restoration and his cousin who once lived in the cottage. He is the finest host we have ever had.
Our only regret was not booking for longer. Your expectations will be surpassed. Enjoy every minute.

Perfect holiday home

A beautiful property in a quiet setting away from everything - you do need a car though. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Michael was available if needed and communication was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Ruhig gelegen und gute Basis für Ausflüge nach Connemara
Publié le 8 juin 2022 sur HomeAwayMit viel Liebe hat Michael dieses alte Cottage mit historischem Hintergrund wieder aufgebaut und im hinteren neu gebauten Teil großzügig gestaltete Schlafzimmer mit Badezimmer angefügt. Das Cottage ist absolut ruhig gelegen, ein Auto ist erforderlich.
Michael kümmert sich sehr um das Wohl seiner Gäste und behebt Probleme umgehend.

Idyllic cottage on the Emerald Isle!

Sharing local gems to visit & the history of this beautiful cottage and the original family that built it. The cottage itself was just as pictured. Cozy, yet airy with all the modern ammenities. It sits on a quiet road with rolling hills all around. Idyllic stay in a wonderful location!
