I don't want to tell you how good it really was!
Publié le 29 août 2019 sur HomeAwayThe place is even better than advertised. It's location is close to many great amenities on Cortes, including fairly close to the ferry, the grocery and a nice, dockside restaurant. Sue was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end, always highly responsive. Really, this place is so great I'd like to keep it a secret so we can easily book for years to come. Can't wait to come back!

Charming Cabin
Publié le 26 août 2018 sur HomeAwayA charming, well appointed cabin overlooking Gorge Harbour. We absolutely loved our time on Cortes: kayaking, hiking and exploring the beaches. Sue was great to deal with and very responsive.

One of our best vacations!
Publié le 31 juill. 2018 sur HomeAwayMy family had one of the best vacations at Wilcox lodge. The cabin was clean, well stocked and the deck with the amazing views and hot tub were such a bonus. I would most definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. And they allowed our beloved puppy to join us!

Relaxing Spring Break with the Kids at the Beach
Publié le 13 avr. 2018 sur HomeAwayWe had such a wonderful time at the cabin. So relaxing and fun and a perfect spring break. Enjoyed beach walks & play, exploring Gorge Harbour in our new inflatable boat, clam digging at Mansons, and doing some maintenance work around the place for my cousin Sue. The kids loved the Easter egg hunt & pancake breakfast with tug of war and other kids games. Coming back again next year. Kristy VN

A hidden gem amongst the island wilderness!
Publié le 8 oct. 2017 sur HomeAwayOur stay at the Wilcox Lodge was nothing short of magical. It's the kind of place where you feel totally one with nature. The huge deck offers amazing views of the surrounding ocean and the opportunity to watch all kinds of wildlife pass by. The sunsets were incredible!! The kayaks were so much fun to take out and to explore the coastline. A definite must if you're visiting. The spacious layout of the cabin allows for a perfect area for gatherings and lots of conversation pieces. We loved looking at all the eclectic decor! The free standing fireplace was a big hit with us as we had some rain one day and it made for a cozy evening curled up with a book and some tea. Sue looked after us so well and was available to answer any questions we had. If you're looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and find some serenity, this is the place to do so!! A little slice of heaven that you never want to leave. We feel lucky to have visited. Thanks Sue!!

Rustic
Publié le 25 août 2017 sur HomeAwayHaving rented many cottages, apartments and homes worldwide, I feel I have a good grip on value for accommodation. This property is overpriced. The place was not particularly clean, cobwebs and dust throughout. The bedding was flannel (strange choice for the summer) and the towels were all mismatched and all we could find were hand towels in a chest. There are personal items in all the drawers, we kept our clothes in our suitcases. The beds were fairly comfortable. This property could be 5 star with just a little effort. The view is lovely.

Thank you for your candid feedback. Yes, our home is rustic and is advertised as rustic in our HomeAway listing. Regarding pricing, I periodically compare my pricing to other accommodations on the island, none of which are exactly the same, and feel that the pricing is fair. Part of what you are paying for is the fantastic view, the beachfront location, the private hot tub, spacious home and deck, and the time of year. The tourist season on Cortes Island is short and August is the highest demand month. May, June and September are great times to visit Cortes Island and I am happy to extend discounted pricing these times of year. I have reviewed your other concerns with my house cleaner. The sheets you thought were flannel on the beds are actually a stretchy jersey cotton, not flannel, and appropriate for summer use. We have plenty of towels of all sizes and some of them are mismatched; I believe that a clean bath towel was available for each guest. But the towels may be getting a little worn and we are bringing up a new supply in September. Also, there shouldn't be personal items in the bedroom chests of drawers so I have asked my house cleaner to check more frequently that prior guests haven't left personal items behind. Extra blankets are stored in some of the dresser drawers and I have asked my house cleaner to move these to the trunks & cedar storage chests, freeing up all the dresser drawers for guests. Regarding cleaning, note that this is a rustic A-Frame home and is challenging to clean because there is not a square corner in the place & cobwebs do collect quickly in this house on the edge of the forest. Still your comment about cobwebs has prompted me to purchase a telescoping duster to make it easier to clear away cobwebs. Note that all the rental income from this property goes right back into maintenance & improvements so your feedback is valuable to me as I prioritize what to improve next. This year's major improvement was a new septic system. I hope you were able to enjoy the natural beauty of Cortes Island even though you found the accommodations not perfectly suited to your needs. Again, your feedback is most appreciated. Best, Sue

The location and setting couldn't be beat, absolutely beautiful!
Publié le 9 juill. 2017 sur HomeAwayIt's clear the cottage and island are both loved by the owner, this was reflected through the books both personal and historical that filled the book case. The cottage has all the necessities, kayak was a nice bonus, and the welcome gift of coffee and wine was a great surprise. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog and so did he.
We would stay here again.
