Amazing Stay for Service Trip!

Amazing house !
Publié le 1 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur group of 12 enjoyed a wonderful stay at Rob’s historical house in Cragsmoor for a long weekend. The layout of the house was perfect for everyone to enjoy the privacy of their own room while gathering in the kitchen and living room to socialize. The kitchen is really the center piece of the house; it is equipped with everything one would need! Everyone enjoyed spending Time on the patio or hiking in the Sam’s Point Reserve. Communication , check-in and out were very smooth !

Fabulous location for a family or group reunion

Fourteeen people in all, we relished meals cooked together in the large, friendly, well equipped kitchen and eaten around the table seating 16 in the open-plan dining area. The bedrooms are lovely, each one different, and the wraparound porch was perfect for relaxing and socializing. "The guys" also enjoyed grilling one dinner together. Some of us hiked up to Sam's Point just a mile way, a NY Park with broad paths and spectacular rock formations and views (requires a resevertion: it's popular!). With plenty of spaces for privacy, a nearby Hannaford's in caseyou forgot or needed something, a full complemet of herbs, spices and staples, many options for nearby hikes and a responsive, communicative host, it's the perfect place for a large group to gather. Highly, highly recommended!

Wonderful place for a family gathering.
Publié le 12 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe house is genuinely spacious. It easily accommodated our group of 15 people. There are nine real, full-sized bedrooms, and the common spaces are supersized, including the dining room & kitchen, and the glorious, endless wrap-around porch.
It is an old house, a little frayed around the edges, and probably not the right choice for those who prefer new, sleek and immaculate. But we loved its quirks and charm. Its former lives as a boarding house, and later as the home of an artist, are very much on display: The ceramic "Ladies" sign above a second-floor bathroom; the vast collection of art books in the library.
It's also a wonderland for children, overflowing with games and toys and fun places to play.

Beyond Expectation
Publié le 7 août 2024 sur HomeAwayMy family voted unanimously that this place is it! We are 6+4 significant others, so 10. We had our own spaces and ample commons spaces to gather, cook, eat, read and more. We love the proximity to hikes and climbs. The kitchen went beyond expectation.

Perfect for a large group
Publié le 30 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayGathered with friends to celebrate a bachelorette party. Really beautiful and charming home! Bedrooms all very cute and shared areas are spacious and well decorated. Definitely appreciated the fans in each room as there is no AC. Kitchen is AMAZING.

Thank you for staying at the house. Sorry for whatever fell short that resulted in the four star review! Was it the lack of a/c? I thought it was clear on the site that there isn’t, but apologies if it wasn’t clear.

Family fun in Cragsmoor
Publié le 27 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a lovely visit. 14 of us ages 5-80+. The home accomodated us so well and the host was wonderful. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we've had. Great hikes lovely quiet area. We had a blast and will return.

The perfect big group home-base
Publié le 5 févr. 2024 sur HomeAwayI was looking for somewhere that had many rooms for single and couple adults to stay at for a long weekend birthday celebration. It was super difficult to find somewhere with rooms relatively the same size and separate/private, until I came upon this listing. That was the impetus, and the reality was even better than we could have imagined. We spent most of our time in the large kitchen/dining room: cooking, eating, laughing, conversing, and playing games. At nights we would all go into large living room for more games. The breakfast nook and library was a great place for people to get some work done or for smaller games of dominos or a puzzle. We were there in the dead of winter, and there was plenty to do indoors as well as nearby, though I can only imagine how great the property would be in warmer weather too! A few of us went on the 3-mile loop trail hike and overlook at Sam's Point Preserve (3 min drive); we all went to Speakeasy Motors Distillery (15 min drive) one day; and to Arrowood Brewery & Distillery (30 min drive) another day - all super highly recommended. We had 3 dogs with us, who all loved the the place too. I was amazed at how many supplies were included with the house - I'd say way beyond the basics. Tons of spices and condiments, oils and baking supplies, dishware, glassware, cookware, barware and even party decorations, which were a happy surprise. Would 100% stay here again! Thanks, Rob!!

Fantastic House
Publié le 22 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is our 2nd stay at the Cragsmoor house. The host, Rob, is incredibly kind and communicative and the house is perfect for gathering with a large group. We were 10 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs and there was plenty of room for everyone to have space but also gather together. The house itself is quirky and full of character and art, which adds to the fun of staying. Can’t wait to return again!
