good location, very good meal at the restaurant

nice place to stay; would reccomand the old rooms in the castle part rather than the modern part (much less charming). very good restaurant (very important to book as very busy). It was a shame the TV set didn't worked and wasn't fixed!!

Our room was in the main hall but felt like it was the maid’ room originally. We had our dog with us so think this was a ‘dog room’. No. 3105 FYI. The main hall is glorious and the bar here is beautiful. Again though if you’re taking your dog in you are exiled to an anteroom which although grand feels cold and you have to go back into the bar to get anyone’s attention. The ‘brasserie’ is where your meals are served and you can sit in the bar area with your dog. You can dine there from the restaurant menu or the smaller lounge menu. We had great service there from Natalie.

It's deceiving as the the room I was in was out the back in the 'new part' - miles away from the reception, where they just said I had to follow the red carpet (which then involved two lifts and a long walk) whereas I had hoped to stay in the main old building. The air-con was noisy, as was the fan provided; the bathroom shower did not drain properly and flooded the bathroom on opening the shower door; the toilet did not flush properly; no plug sockets by the bed.

The only reason I am able to give any stars to this is because of the staff. Very friendly. There was so many issues in this hotel that it's shocking they consider themselves to be luxurious. We were very excited to stay here, as the photos looked beautiful online. They had impressive Celiac/Gluten Free options on their website and it looked promising. We also had a dog and thought it would be great to stay here with him. On arrival, we were treated very kindly and friendly, explained about breakfast times, where the pool was, where our room was etc and it all seemed like we were off to a great start. The room at a glance looked beautiful, and the bed was comfortable and clean. Upon further inspection there was some horrors, I'll leave my photos attached to explain more. I don't expect 5 star experiences everywhere I go, but for the price of this stay it was extremely disappointing and I feel we would have had a better experience in the travel lodge down the road. The grounds of the hotel itself are beautiful, however the room we stayed in (4013) was grubby, and actually filthy. A steam clean and a good scrub along with some maintenance would go a long way here. The breakfast was absolutely terrible for myself being Celiac. I asked about what I could eat when arriving to breakfast, in the "green" time frame and it wasn't busy. They had no gluten free bread left. And the buffet had cross contamination, nothing was safe for me to eat. Please don't stay here.

I was very concerned to read your comments raised about our gluten free and coeliac offering, so I have followed up with our restaurant manager. You should have been advised that as a coeliac, our team could fetch you a fresh plate of hot breakfast directly from the kitchen to avoid any cross contamination so I am very sorry that this was not offered to you. Matt, our restaurant manager, has ensured that all of his team have been retrained to ensure this does not happen in the future. I will also pick up your comments regarding g the cleanliness of the room with our head housekeeper so that we can review internally. I am very sorry that your stay was not a positive one and truly hope that you would consider giving us another chance in the future.Best wishes,
