Marvelous place to stay. The staff is super friendly and Knowledgeable of the area and offered many places to visit, things to do and Suggested places for great local cuisine. Highly recommend this property , super convenient if you're doing things and this area.

Great place overall, particularly the location. They were recovering from the hurricane but still had everything in good order. The "breakfast" was just a paper bag with a granola bar and a mini muffin. We didn't catch that the beds were full size instead of queens- a bit small for 4 of us but we probably just missed that when booking. Overall this was a great deal.

Loved how it was on the water with a wonderful outdoor patio area! The only thing I did not like, was having to climb stairs to our room with our luggage and other stuff. A bit tough for seniors.

Great location, room 1214 had the best view of Kings Bay. Took 3 trys to get us in the right room. Only down fall was NO hot water, it was luke warm!

Best place to stay for our Manatee tour!
My partner and I stayed at Paddletail Waterfront Lodge. We looked all over the area and it was the perfect choice nearby our manatee tour. The location was fantastic—just a short drive or walk to the marina where the tours depart. We loved that we didn’t have to rush in the morning! Yvette was very friendly and was efficient checking us in. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and cozy. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a great view of the nearby waterways. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gave us some tips on the best local spots for dinner after our tour. The breakfast was a highlight—lots of fresh options to fuel us for the day ahead. Plus, the hotel had a coffee bar, which made everything even more convenient. We’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay while exploring the beauty of the area. We’ll definitely be back for another manatee adventure and another stay at the Paddletail.

We enjoyed our stay here. What we liked: They had a refridgerator and microwave and we were able to make some of our meals in our room. The property is clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. I liked that they had a washer and dryer on site. We thought that the old boats around the property were cool! The small tweaks that could improve this property would be: a working spa and a heated pool. It is not mentioned when you book that these are not working. They should mention that the coffee shop is not up and running. The packaged muffin and the bruised apple in a bag… not a good substitute for a fresh pastry and coffee. However there are a few nice coffee shops in the area. The Cattle Dog Coffee house is wonderful. It would be a bit of a luxury, but a filtered water refilling station would be a nice touch and having refillable water bottles for sale would be great. I think most of us are trying to reduce our single use plastics use. During check in the clerks at the front desk were very overwhelmed by the “new system”. They clearly had not been trained very well on this new system… not their fault. Also a client came and wanted to exit her room with a single king size bed. I mentioned that we would prefer that and asked if we could have that room. The clerk checking us in simultaneously acknowledged and then ignored me and just put us in the room with two queens. Her customer service could be improved upon.

The website for this hotel calls it a "stay 'n play" resort. While I was not expecting luxury, there is nothing about this property that feels like a resort. It is a basic hotel, with basic rooms, and a small pool area with a hot tub that was not working. The Wifi in our room was also not working during our entire 4-night stay. If you Google this place, you will find that it used to be a Best Western, and that is definitely still the vibe. It's also a bit of a stretch to call it a "waterfront" lodge. While some of the property does extend to the water, the main part of the hotel and the majority of the rooms are not even close to waterfront. I booked this place thinking that it would be somewhere where we could hang out and enjoy some amenities, but there is literally nothing on site. There's not even really a nice place to sit and enjoy a view of the bay. To be fair, the hotel is centrally located in Crystal River, and you can walk to some restaurants and to the downtown. Beyond that, however, I would not recommend this place. It's possible that in the future, once it is fully renovated, it will be something more akin to a resort. For now, sadly, it is very much not. When we were checking out, the woman at the desk, whose name tag identified her as some sort of manager, asked how our stay had been. I told her that the Wifi had been out the whole time and my sister thought she'd been bitten by bed bugs. The woman replied only this, "Expedia will send you your receipt."
