Beautiful House in Sencca
Publié le 29 déc. 2021 sur HomeAwayMy boyfriend and I stayed at Yommy’s place for over a month. It was a beautiful experience to wake up to the stunning views of the hills around us, the house is located up in Sencca which is higher than Cusco, it was perfect for us as we got to spend most of our time out of the city and in nature, we still visited Cusco most days as it was so easy to do, there is a bus stop right outside the house that takes you straight to the center for 1 sol, its about 20 mins away. Yommy is a tour guide, so we went with him and his brother just behind the house to go Zip-lining and do the Tarzan Swing, it was so cool. They made sure we were safe and the experience itself was breathtaking. I would recommend talking to Yommy about any tours you are interested in. The house itself is small and cosy, it gets cold sometimes but there is a fireplace and fire wood just outside the house. The kitchen is kitted out with pots and pans, plates and glasses, as well as a blender, which we made lots of use of. There is a sun room, which gets very warm, I enjoyed doing Yoga here most mornings, there is also a cute little garden as well. we loved living in this rustic house and when we come back to Peru we hope to stay here again.

Perú style!
Publié le 15 nov. 2019 sur HomeAwayIf you want to experience the Peru life, this place is offering a chance to live 20 minutes away by bus from busy Cusco. Buses are 30 seconds away from the house, and there is basically a bus waiting for you. Yum has been a great host. Know that sometime there is water and sometime not.
There was moment without electricity, just be opened to experience it.
Yom and the neighbourhood ( Kim, Silver the dog) were fun to be with.

Thank you Manon and family for staying with us and taking time to write a review. Unfortunately, we can have issues with the community water supply on occasion, and this is also true in the city of Cusco, thanks for your understanding. The issue relating to the high consumption of electricity has been rectified so that won't happen again. We hope that you enjoyed the tours you took with us too. All the best for your continued travels in South America, Rachel and Yom

A most excellent place to stay with a great host family!
Publié le 3 déc. 2018 sur HomeAwayA perfect situation for my long stay in Cusco. The Atau family were ideal hosts and always available for any situation beginning with transportation from the airport on my arrival. As a licensed tour operator and guide, Yom was an invaluable source in planning access and providing information about all the important sites in the area that are worth visiting.
The guesthouse is also fantastic and fit perfectly with my needs. Very clean and spacious with a functional kitchen, a great shower and a cozy woodstove which always made for a nice way to wind down after doing touristy things in the hectic city. Yom even made sure I had plenty of kindling and firewood the whole time.
Not for everyone but if you want a taste of real Peruvian local culture and a quiet spacious retreat with access to all that the Sacred Valley has to offer, this is the place to stay!

We are so glad that you had a good time in Cusco. Thanks for giving the guesthouse a gift, of a hammock for the sunroom, during your stay!
All the best!

Home away from Home
Publié le 17 oct. 2017 sur HomeAwayWe loved staying in this house in the outskirts of Cusco. Waking up every morning to a stunning view of mountaintops. Seeing rural life lived, right outside your windows. Sitting in front of the wood stove in the evenings and getting warm. Wonderful fellowship with our hosts: Rachel & Yom and Chaska and Raimy. A trip to lake Titicaca with our host family was one of the many highlights. We also enjoyed taking the public bus into Cusco, and browsing around the many fascinating streets of Cusco.
We enjoyed having Yom as out tourguide to Machu Picchu, Santa Helena and are looking forward to another trip with him next week. We can HIGHLY recommend Yom as tourguide, you can always find him at Chaskana travel.
We would love to return to Chaskana rural guesthouse and we highly recommend it.

The host(s) are what makes a trip "The Most"
Publié le 23 sept. 2017 sur HomeAwayThe two bedroom cottage was clean and quaint but the best part of our stay was Yom and Rachel. Yom provided my husband a trip to Rainbow Mountain where he and our daughter experienced a once in a lifetime trip in hiking and taking beautiful photographs in this very rare part of Peru. With little other tourists to compete with, Yom seems to know the secret paths to various side trips --all by using his cottage as a homebase. A wonderful couple. If you are English speaking then Rachel and Yom will help you make any trip preparations you need such as Taxi's. Although the cottage is 15 or 20 minutes away from Cusco; it was actually nice to be in a more authentic village environment rather than in the heart of Tourism main square. We had both experiences.

So Awesome!
Publié le 1 févr. 2017 sur HomeAwayWe absolutely loved our stay with Yom, Rachel, Chaska, and Rami(might have misspelled the children's names, sorry)! We came with my 70+ year old parents and had a fantastic time. While the location is a bit rural, it was absolutely perfect for us. Obtaining taxi service either on site or calling one of the locals was incredibly easy.
Traveling with my elderly parents was challenging because of the altitude but my parents were good to go after two or three days of taking it easy. The accommodations made cooking for ourselves easy after a trip to the Plazavea (big local store similar to a SuperWalmart). Our hosts were able to arrange all of our day trip excursions inexpensively.
Yom made an excellent decision in choosing an alternate hotel after we arrived in Aguas Calientes (city below Manchu Pichu). It cost just a little bit more but had an elevator which was good for my parents especially. The rooms were awesome, we slept with a window open so we could hear the river rushing by below.
Yom also arranged for his mom to fix us a fabulous Gineau Pig dinner with stuffed peppers and potatoes. Prior to our meal he had arranged for us to visit a Gineau Pig farm and we able to get a couple of the long haired ones as a gift for his mom, we got her a mating pair. We figured if she was feeding us that was the least we could do, in addition to tipping her for preparing our feast.
If we ever get to come back again, we'll look forward to staying with our new extended family...because that's how we were treated like family.

Thank you for the kind review. It was a pleasure meeting you all and having you as guests with us in a small piece of Peru. We do care for our guests and want them to feel at home when they stay with us as well as having a fantastic time in Peru. The altitude can be difficult so taking it easy for the first couple of days or staying somewhere around 2500 metres above sea level before coming to Cusco is recommended. Thanks again!
Con cariño,
Rachel, Yom, Chaska and Raimy.
