Wonderful Winter Retreat!

Publié le 17 nov. 2024 sur HomeAway
My spouse and I shared the cabin with my parents when we were in Custer for a family function. Our stay was comfortable and the cabin was well-stocked with anything that we might have needed. We hope to come stay again soon!

Exceeded Expectations

Publié le 11 oct. 2024 sur HomeAway
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Proximity to the major area attractions was a huge plus. What we didn't expect was how lovely the setting of this property is. Running just behind the cabin is the Mickelson Trail, perfect for a quiet walk. Beside the cabin is a small hill with several rows of 5' tall rock outcroppings. Our children spent hours safely exploring and playing right in the yard.

Good time

Clean, good heat and ac. If I had to list a negative it would be a tiny one. I wake up often when sleeping and could hear the random car go by. If you rarely wakeup at night you wouldn't know they were there. We enjoyed our stay, would stay again

Not wooded, Moths everywhere

Publié le 31 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway
We rented the cabin in July. The cabin has good space. However, the west facing patio was too sunny during the day and evening to cook outside and although there are trees in the area, the lot was not wooded. The patio view was not relaxing, it was of some sort of horse/farm animal training area, which drew alot of flies to the patio and house. The grill drip pan was dirty and full. There was also an abundance of moths the house. I think they might be coming from the animal heads mounted to the wall. There was no central air, only a motel like unit in the loft area, that was not able to cool the house properly. However, fans were provided. The kitchen was well equipped, but a couple of fry pans need to be replaced. Only one bath towel per person was provided for a 4 night stay and the bath tub drained very slowly.

Hi Shelia, we want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that is 100% ready for their stay, so we take your feedback seriously. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- We use professional photography that accurately depicts the home and its surroundings, including the nearby horse farm, which can be seen in our listing photos. The lot is 3 acres with trees to the south, though the back deck can be sunny in the evenings.- We apologize for the condition of the grill drip pan and will follow up with our cleaning team to ensure this is addressed for future guests.- We have not received this complaint before, it is possible that when the double doors are left open in the evenings the moths are attracted to the interior lights. We will further review to take the necessary steps to address this moving forward.- We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. The home does not have central air, but there is a wall-mounted A/C unit in the loft area. We will update the listing to reflect this more clearly.- We will conduct an inventory of the kitchen to replace any worn fry pans.- The property provides a total of 12 bath towels, along with additional hand towels and washcloths. We will ensure that the correct number of towels is available for all future stays.- We haven't received previous complaints about the bathtub draining slowly, but we will follow up with our cleaning service to address this issue. Thanks for taking the time to leave your review!

Great place to stay!

Publié le 23 juill. 2024 sur HomeAway
Our stay at this cabin included 4 adults and 3 children, consisting of a 14 yr. old, 6 yr. old, and 1 yr. old. The cabin had plenty of space for all of us and I really appreciated the baby gate at the property so I could block the stairs from the curious 1 yr. old. The property was clean and came with all of the comforts of home. This property was in a great location that was close to Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, and Mount Rushmore. We loved using the house as a landing spot to relax and recharge throughout our many sightseeing adventures. The only complaint I had was the water was occasionally stinky, like a fishy or stagnant smell, especially when we first got there and ran the kitchen facet. For a minor inconvenience there was only 1 dish rag to wash dishes after cooking so that was kind of a pain to wash that daily, it would’ve been nice if there were a couple. Also, the property doesn’t have air conditioning, which wasn’t bad during our stay because the weather was mild but might be a problem for others. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this cute rustic cabin and would love to stay again if we ever come back to Custer.
