City Cottage on Main St in North Georgia

Constructed in 1929, this home maintains all of its beautiful architectural elements of the original build. Ten foot ceilings, beautiful plaster details, transom windows, walnut and French doors. Endless interesting elements that are largely unknown in modern buildings.

Plenty of room to get lost in this old home occupied by the city elder, Justice of the Peace, Mr. Campbell’s family for 74 years. History abounds, and many people have been married here in front of the fireplace.

Guests love the sunroom that serves as a library and additional sleeping space with a fold out sleeper sofa. The huge living and dining room open into one another to gather with friends and family.

Guest bedrooms feature high quality beds with 100% cotton sheets and ample pillows and blankets. The master bedroom features a king sized premium Serta Black mattress that is luxurious! The master has an en suite bathroom that is in need of a refresh, but is clean and well equipped.

The furnishings throughout are unique and quality to enhance the experience.

There is a breakfast room for a quiet morning coffee or meal to seat four people.
The kitchen features a huge farmhouse sink original to the house. The cabinets and layout of the kitchen are original too. There is limited countertop prep space. The cooktop and wall oven are very old but work as expected. The huge walk-in pantry includes spices and staples for your use. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and serving. There is an additional stove in the mud room.
A large dining room seats 8 plus people.

Guests also love the massive covered patio that overlooks the backyard. A ceiling fan helps keep the air moving on hot days. You will enjoy the abundance of plants and flowers to be found on the patio. There is also a gas grill and a two burner cooker. I also have massive cook pots if you want to do a seafood boil.

Please take the time to enjoy the yard and explore the abundance of plants and wildlife. Listed with the National Wildlife Federation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
I am available for garden tours if that is of interest.

Under two massive oak trees there is a fire pit for your use and an aged shed is the backdrop for your time in the garden.

Fun, historic home!
Needed a place to stay for a friend’s wedding and found this VRBO offering. Lovely historic home that has been well-maintained. Minus a few appliance/TV updates, it truly feels like you’re stepping into a time machine and going back 100+ years. Yet, everything is both functional and quite comfortable. Bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable! Only had one minor issue with a TV remote and it was quickly resolved by the owner. Excellent WiFi as well. Over 100 mbps both up and down. Wish we could have stayed longer and are actively considering booking again in the future to come back and take advantage of the nearby hiking trails.

This seems to be a historic home which still has the charm. May seem dated to some, but that is a personal preference. Our stay was short but pleasant. Janet, the host and Oliver (her large poodle) were very friendly and welcoming. Beds were comfy, and all our needs were accommodated.

Pleasant Stay in History Rich Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic cottage. We were in town for a family reunion and this home provided sufficient room for five adults and three children. The accommodations were well appointed and had everything we needed for the weekend. The historical architecture was amazing with soaring ceilings and spacious rooms. It was centrally located to all of our activities and places to eat. Janet was amazing. She was responsive to any questions we had prior to our arrival and addressed any questions we had once we got there. If we ever have to stay in Lafayette again, we would absolutely choose this location!

Beautiful historic home
The home is a restored historic home that is beautiful. The location is downtown and very convenient to shops, restaurants, and Walmart. The homeowner was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend if you need to stay in the Lafayette area.

Holiday Stay
My husband and I stayed at this charming home over the Christmas holiday so that we could visit my daughter and her husband who live close to LaFayette. The house was extremely clean and exactly what you would expect from a home built at that time period. We absolutely loved it! The beds were so comfortable. The host was very accommodating and easy to communicate with when we needed. We will be staying here again and would recommend to anyone wanting a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay that is close to Chattanooga but quiet and relaxing.

Very cool historic home with dreamy outdoor sitting
The house was really neat and had nice size bedrooms, living room and dining room. I really loved the coffee table and nook and the windows with clear glass that you could see outside in. The outdoor sitting area in the back was absolutely dreamy with plants and a soothing water feature. The largest bed was soft though the other beds were more firm so depending on what you prefer there were choices. I also loved that I could close the gates which was very helpful when we were outside given the home is on a main road in this small town. There was a salon across the street and the small downtown nearby. My daughter got married in Ringgold at Flat Duck and this house was about 22 minutes and just a few turns away. The owner stayed in an apartment in the back so we were mindful not to block the driveway or leave the gate closed, and while she was incredibly responsive and easy to communicate she was invisible throughout our 3 night stay. I would absolutely stay here again and my only regret is that we were running around so much that we did not get to spend more time hanging out at the historic property.

Great house! Great host!
We stayed 3 nights at the historic home and were so pleased! The house is a gem, everywhere we looked there was another beautiful item or antique! Can't say enough about the comfort of the home, especially the master bedroom! The bed is awesome! Will stay again if we get to visit Chattanooga area and battlefield again. Amazing!
Property is absolutely beautiful! Huge yard for kids and pets to play. We traveled to Georgia to see family and had enough space to grill and relax for 15 people! Has plenty of beautiful flowers, birds and had a deer come visit our last morning there. The house is huge and historical! Beautifully decorated, very welcoming and the beds are very comfy! Janet, our host, was fantastic and her dog Oliver is pretty amazing too❤️ We will definitely be back!

Walking into history! From the town and surrounding towns to the house with its throw backs to yesteryears! The accommodations for the five of us were plentiful and the thoughtful gifts left by Janet were a sweet touch. Quaint and eclectic home
The stay was wonderful! Came to Lafayette for work, and stayed here in lieu of a hotel so I could cook meals as a result of dietary restrictions. The house has an old charm and is very cozy! There were lots of kitchen gadgets to use which I found helpful to prepare my meals. Will be back for future events. Would highly recommend.

This home is perfect!
When my family snd I traveled LaFayette to visit family, we were excited to stay at this beautiful vintage home. It is located in a quiet residential area in downtown LaFayette. The home is filled with beautiful antiques, spa quality bed and bath products. Soft comfortable beds and fluffy towels. Three bedrooms with additional sleeping space in living room and sunroom. Formal dining room as well as a breakfast nook. Kitchen is well stocked with spices, utensils, pots and pans, and silverware. Rear covered patio and large backyard are an oasis for relaxation. Patio is huge with large potted plants, a fountain, and an assortment of comfortable seating including a swing, loungers, and table with chairs. Brightly colored pillows and cushions add a cozy touch. The backyard is a natural habitat for birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and a groundhog. The property owner was very accommodating and respectful of privacy. She was quickly available to answer questions/ provide assistance with any issues. This home is perfect , and I look forward to enjoying this home again when I return to LaFayette.

Lovely retreat
We had a wonderful stay. Janet was quite attentive to all of our needs. While right on Main Street, the home offered a lovely retreat from running around. The house offered plenty of space for our family to relax. It also offered private space for online meetings and business required through the visit. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. We especially enjoyed the retreat of the back yard. We watched blue birds feed their newly hatched young, as well as many different birds flying in to feed at the feeders. We saw Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Mockingbird, Finches, and many more We could learn about from the bird watching kit provided. I have so many pictures of the beautiful birds! If you enjoy tastefully decorated older homes, this is the place for you. Our family enjoyed perusing the older books with titles such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Lottle Women with their beautiful bindings. The fresh flowers throughout the house were a wonderful touch. It was easy to see that this destination was well cared for at first sight. Preparation was evident to ensure our visit was comfortable. From the throw pillows on each couch to the ample amount of plush towels, every detail was inviting. All of our needs were accounted for with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a very well stocked kitchen. Those couple of dashes of spice made our meals taste more home cooked. Thank you, Janet, for making our stay so wonderful. If we travel back to LaFayette, we will definitely come stay again.

Absolutely wonderful place and experience! Would stay again and recommend without hesitation!
This is an absolutely lovely property. Very clean and cozy. Area was nice and quiet and was a good location for visiting family that are spread through Ringgold and Chatsworth. Host was wonderful and friendly, checking in and out was smooth and simple. Loved the fact that I was able to book sort of last minute and bring my dog with no issues. This place has a lovely back patio area for relaxing and letting my dog stretch his legs. Also, the king size bed is literally THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. SERIOUSLY. YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE IT! The internet service was also great for if you have to do work related stuff while traveling. I was able to connect my devices easily and do video calls with no issue. Another great thing is the host provided a lot of basic things you might need but might forget. Good quality shampoo, hand soap, laundry detergent, etc which is great and very kind. I would definitely book this property again on a future trip, no hesitation. It's truly a gem, especially if you prefer a cozy historical place over a beige and boring hotel or something like that.
