Fun Family Weekend
Publié le 27 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe recently enjoyed a fantastic long weekend here, and it was the perfect getaway for our large family. The spacious layout easily accommodated our group, with plenty of bedrooms and communal areas for everyone to gather.
The highlight was definitely the beautiful river view from the patio, where we spent hours kayaking and relaxing by the fire. The fully-equipped kitchen made meal prep a breeze, and the outdoor grill was a great addition for our family meals.
The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding nature trails, and the nearby activities kept everyone entertainened. Janice and Dave were the best hosts we could have asked for; they were incredibly welcoming and responsive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a smooth stay.
Overall, River House exceeded our expectations. It’s a wonderful retreat for families looking to unwind and create lasting memories. We can’t wait to return!

Hershey Park Adventures

Pretty home but we couldn't get comfortable
Publié le 3 août 2024 sur HomeAwayNice home. The beds are very uncomfortable. The whole family thought so. We like being left alone when we go on vacation. With the owners living next door, we always felt like we were being observed. Like we couldn't be trusted..

I'm puzzled by these comments. First, the person who made the reservation for this week, and who wrote this review, ended up not even coming to the river house with her group. Second, I was in California until one day before the group left, and I didn't see them at all until the morning they were leaving. (My husband Dave was there part of the time, but he rarely saw the guests and was busy.) Third, I did introduce myself to the group the morning they left and asked them if everything had been okay at the house. They replied that they'd had a wonderful week and the house was great, no problems. Please consider this review in the context of over 250 reviews with stellar ratings. For the past 16 years Dave and I have done all we can to provide a five star experience for our guests.

River House is the perfect family vacation

Overlooking the Susquehanna River, the large deck and patios provide a calm and relaxing spot for the adults and the shallow river plenty of water activity for the kids. We loved our time here.

Scenic riverfront property

Wonderful family vacation

Activities we enjoyed include kayaking, fishing, tubing down the river, and local attractions. Dave are helpful and considerate hosts in every way you can imagine. My whole family had a lovey time.

Great family vacation spot!
Publié le 1 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayBeautiful riverside location, gorgeous home blending old and new, and the most gracious, personable hosts we have yet encountered in 10 years of vacation rentals made this a wonderful vacation for our family of 10. The hosts even provided a s'mores kit and invited our grandchildren next door to pick blueberries! Home was equipped with all the waterfront equipment you could want. Highly recommended, with lots to do for all ages in Harrisburg and nearby (Hershey, Gettysburg)!
