OLD TIMBERLINE - 

A private, gated community located in beautiful Canaan Valley. You have access to both Spruce Island Lake and Sand Run Lake in Timberline to canoe and fish at (swimming prohibited by the HOA) and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.



You will be staying in a private, gated community. Please have a list of everyone that will be staying in the house (first & last names) and vehicle information. A guard house form will be given to you at check-in for you to put the information on that you will give to the guards.

Beautiful Fall Get Away in Canaan Valley
Beautiful quiet setting with small creek in back. Home very bright inside and welcoming with well appointed kitchen. Some property maintenance and house keeping issues noted and discussed with management company upon departure.

Location! Location!
This property was an excellent location to explore the Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley area. We had an issue with the microwave which was addressed immediately. The hot tub after a day of hiking was perfect!

Not A Good Experience
Let me start by saying I gave the rental company and owners time to review my concerns before posting this. I thoroughly reviewed the website & asked the question is this home a good rental for someone with a walker and was told yes. When I arrived with my 89 year old Mother I saw the two back sets of steps did not have a railing on either side and it was very difficult to get her in. However here are the extreme negatives. The upstairs tub has no grip strips on the tub floor and one family member fell, the basement TV never worked after three people tried, no thermostat in the basement, the powder room on the first floor is very small and you cannot fit a walker, the master bathroom shower rack is broken and there is no grip bar so the possibility of a fall is great, you cannot drive your car into the carport and Viking oven did not work properly. Now for the disturbing aspect of this home. The main steps going upstairs and down do not have a rail bar from the landing down the two steps and are extremely slippery. My Aunt fell as she had nothing to grab onto and slipped right on her head. She had to be life flighted from the property to WVU and was in ICU for four days. Accidents do happen but both inside and outside steps need railings for safety. The only response I received from rental was, hope she is okay with my agreement attached. If you have children or elderly visitors beware as yes it's beautiful but it needs some major safety features added.

Great place for 2 families!
Our family of 4 met friends, a family of 5, all with children ages 9-4 at Fern Brook. The house was perfect for the 9 of us. The kids had plenty of room to play in the basement and loved sleeping together in the bunk room. The adults had a great time playing cards on the screened in porch. There was plenty of room for us all to share meals together and the local attractions were amazing!

Fern Brook is a wonderful place for a tranquil family get away, sitting high on the side of a mountain with a brook flowing right down to the edge of the back patio, tucked into a forest of tall hardwoods. The home is great for larger groups. The kitchen was very well appointed, the baths are finished very nicely (especially the massive walk in shower in the master!), and the game room downstairs just begs everyone to come hang out together. We especially enjoyed having relaxed dinners in the screened in porch while listening to the brook bubble down the mountainside.

Great family cabin
Perfect stay for our multigenerational family. Kids enjoyed the stream out back. Adults enjoyed the porches. Loved the kids could have their own space in the basement and that there was room for all of us in the dining/kitchen area for dinner. We slept 10 comfortably (4 were kids between the ages of 18 mos and 9 years old).

The stream thru the back and the house itself lent for a sweet weekend spot. House was clean and no issues inside. The grill was out of gas so didn’t work, and the hot tub wasn’t really hot (something was malfunctioning), but other than that, it was great.

Very nice cabin with only small customer service letdown
Overall this cabin was very nice and spacious for our 7 guy ski trip. The only complaint was that our grill was out of propane on Friday and nobody responded when I called at 5 pm when we were trying to make dinner. Apparently they came the next day and switched tanks, but never let me know, which was kind of frustrating but minor. Would stay again.

I guess the photos on here are old because they dont showcase the house as well as they should. The master headroom has a king size bed and huge bathroom with a double vanity, inclosed private toilet and huge shower. The main living area is very nice high ceilings. The kitchen has all updated and nice appliances. The basement is spacious as well. Easily fit a group of 11 adults and 6 cars. The drive to timberline was only a few minutes. Will definitely be renting again!
