Quiet respite in beautiful country setting
Posted Oct. 23, 2024 on HomeAwayStayed 3 nights, closer to end of color season. Beautiful views, beautiful bluffs overlooking Upoer Iowa River.
Barbara and David were wonderful hosts. Only negative was not letting us know that HVAC system broke in the week or two before our stay.Fortunately, nights were cool, and days not so warm that fan and outside breezes could not keep us comfortable.
I highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway from city life, with plenty of walking or hiking or other activities as desired.

We appreciate your comments Mark. Regarding the AC, typically AC would not be needed in Decorah at the end of October or I certainly would have notified you. In fact the in-floor heat turns on at night to keep the house warm. We do have fresh air return running continuously through the entire house. We are able to run the AC to keep the air clean but the cooling is marginal until we get the replacement unit installed.
When the outside temps are cool, the AC does not cycle on. I apologize for not letting you know in advance.

An amazing surprise
Posted Sep. 20, 2024 on HomeAwayOur annual sisters getaway…..we had not stayed here before and there is always apprehension with a new place. First off the communication was great. Barbara responded quickly every time I reached out. The living area is wide open with large windows on two sides. The view is simply rolling green hills as far as the eye can see. Just beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to make meals for the entire week with no problems. Our individual bedrooms were comfortable. My only hurdle was the high sided soaking tub. I have bad knees and it was a challenge but after a little negotiating everything worked. Honestly we would have liked a shower curtain for the tub as water did tend to splash. But the water was always hot with good pressure. The location is pretty country but also being close enough to town for shopping. We did a little exploring in the area as well. We really did enjoy our stay and we’re thinking this will be next years location as well!!!. Barbara and Dave are great hosts. They live upstairs but you would t know it. Great place!

Beautiful Iowa

Property was spectacular, and I enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC! I hope to be back for future visits. The property was stunning, quiet, and the view on the Bluff.was peaceful! Barbara and David were responsive, gracious, and wonderful hosts!
