Property was awesome.. restaurant on site was a disappointment. I was feeling sick throughout the night. The food wasn't very tasteful for the price range.

We haven't stayed at the Cove for a couple of years and we're surprised at the the off season pricing but decided to go anyway. The place is showing its age! Tiles missing and obvious water damage on the exterior, cracked grout and wobbly tiles in the bathroom, gas fireplace that wouldn't turn off, dripping ceiling on the balcony. The entertainment system is sad and difficult to maneuver. They have discontinued their complimentary breakfast and don't not even have coffee In the lobby. Our room was not made up after the first night either. Still an amazing view but disappointing the details.

Thanks for taking the time to post a review, we welcome honest input from our guests. A property such as this one is constantly being maintained, however any location like this faces challenges from weather and normal wear and tear. We are also disappointed we have been unable to resume breakfast service, but the effects of the pandemic linger. We hope to have any of the issues you detailed resolved should you elect to return. If not, we wish you well.

Nice location

Whale Cove Inn is very strategically located near Depoe Bay, Oregon, with easy access to Depoe Bay and several local beaches. While the accommodations were quite nice with a nice view of the cove, we felt it was overpriced for what was offered. (I did not comparison shop, so perhaps this is the going rate for the area.) Due to COVID, there was no housekeeping, no breakfast buffet, etc., so it was hard to rate service other than okay. The inn itself seemed in need of some maintenance or renovation as there was peeling exterior paint, dirty fountain ponds in front, cracked sidewalk in back leading to deck, the jacuzzi tub on deck seemed rather dated and it was not clean. Our room was mostly clean, but minor things like lots of dirt in slider track, etc. The bed was very comfortable. The bar area and refrigerator was nice. Especially with COVID, a microwave would have been very convenient.

Great Hotel and Gorgeous Location

The views from the room were excellent - it helped that we had perfect sunny days in April but even in the rain this view would be impeccable. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable.

The view from the room was unbelievable. The hot tub was dated and restaurant on-site was closed. Rooms are large. Will need to come back when restaurant isn't closed.

So-So for me

This was a tricky one to review. I personally don’t believe the cost is worth the hotel. I got the premier suite and didn’t understand why two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms was locked in the suite I paid for. Hotels.com, where I got the reservation said I would get three bedrooms and two bathrooms in the suite. I did ask the front desk personnel and he said the hotel keeps the other two bedrooms and one bathroom locked unless we have more than two people in our party, (but at that point the suite itself would cost even more). That seemed to me to be really ridiculous. I decided to go on hotels.com and put in 4 guests, requested the same suite and it was THE SAME PRICE I paid, so the front desk personnel were dishonest with me. The fireplace is pretty much a joke, it’s a plug in fireplace that has an hour long timer. For the cost, you guys should be able to install a full fireplace. There is also not a full size kitchen, no oven, which I had been looking forward to so I could could breakfast. No breakfast at the hotel. The wonderful things about the hotel are the shower, it’s the best I’ve ever experienced. The bathtub on the deck is so wonderful too- even in the cold weather it is a good contrast to the hot water in the tub. The view is beautiful. The sounds from the ocean are wonderful in the relaxing tub. The bed is also really comfortable, but I prefer harder beds, it’s not super hard, but decently hard. I’m not sure if I would stay here again.

Hello and thank you for your comments. Whale Cove is an exclusive couple's retreat with pricing based on double occupancy. All units, other than the Premier Suite accommodate only 2 persons. For an extra per-person fee, the Premier Suite can accommodate up to 6 adults across 3 bedrooms. For 2 person reservations like yours, Whale Cove keeps the extra bedrooms and baths locked. We do not understand why Hotels.com failed to show the extra person charge. This is an ongoing policy we've had for 12 years. It's good for Whale Cove to have the Premier Suite's occupant flexibility when needed. Unfortunately, during the current pandemic, Whale Cove cannot offer its breakfast buffet. We reviewed your invoice, and we found the $40 discount offered to all guests had been applied to your account. All reservations receive at least 2 separate confirmations explaining the current COVID restrictions. As Lincoln County and State modify the COVID-19 restrictions, Whale Cove may return to its normal breakfast service, but that schedule is unknown at this time. Should you decide to return, we recommend one of our Signature Suites. Those are perfect for 2 persons and are more affordably priced. Safe Travels,

The room and view were beautiful. It was extremely relaxing and the shower and spa tub were amazing.
