This 2 bedroom home is in a private setting that requires gate access. The lake has fish for those looking to fish in a serene setting . In the brilliant summer sunshine the lake has a perfect mirror for the mountains that surround it. You will have usage of a kayak and paddle boat that can take you to the lake island. The home has a full kitchen , forced air heater and air conditioner. We also just added a gas fireplace in the living room .Come and enjoy this unique paradise.

Perfect little getaway

The owner is close by should any issues arise. We had a small hiccup when one of the amenities in the listing was no longer avaliable, but other than that, it was great! The owner is very responsive and friendly. This is very much in nature, so just know that there will be animals (which we were looking forward to) and the insects are much larger and numerous than when younlive in the city lol. We loved everything about this location and have already been talking about going back!

Joyful Experience

Very peaceful and relaxing. It was perfectly located near hiking options in the Cleveland National Forest. We enjoyed grilling steaks and sitting outside at the days end. The rental provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Fun little place to stay

The house turned out to be very cute and nice and worked out great for the four of us. Even though there are a handful of houses on the property we only saw two other people during the two days we were there. The lake toys were fun and we were able to fish, play tennis and play horseshoes.

Mixed feelings about this property 3.5 Stars

Communication was quick from the host, however we needed to request access hours before our check in. Our email confirmation shows check in 3PM however our host reminded us that check in was at 4PM. The listing photos are a little deceiving. The angles make you believe that those shots are from the property you'll be staying at and it's not. There are 2 other houses on the property. This guest house is set at the back of the property (not a big deal just not accurately portrayed). The exterior of the guest house is a little uninviting. I was upset when I drove up. It was not what I was excepting. The property is farther from the pond than what you'd think and you will be walking in front of another property to get to the tennis court or pond are so it feels a little intrusive. The interior of the property is exactly as pictured, it's very tastefully decorated, not over done like in some vacation rentals. There were a couple of basic games, 4 outdoor chairs, beach towels, life vests. All very nice especially if you are traveling with a family. Property was clean (with the exception of the floor) our feet were dirty all the time and there was nothing to clean the floor with, which I would have happily done if there were cleaning supplies. Note that you should bring EVERYTHING you need with the exception of coffee and salt. I would have appreciated knowing this, I would have packed sugar and pepper, etc. Many VRBO's we've stayed at have had at least the basics covered if not more. The pond was a huge attraction for this property, however if you read the listing it states you can fish, it is catch and release. This is not mentioned in their description, just thought it would be good to know. They did have kayaks, paddle boat, fishing gear (including net). Tennis courts had rackets. Lots of fun things to do for a family. The host that lives at the property never came by or even left a note of any sort. I just thought it was odd to have guest on your property and not even say hello. That's just me. I think with some simple tweaks to the front of the guest house, it wouldn't be such a shock when you drive up. Host please add more photos of the exterior and photos towards the pond so your guest can see where they are staying. Thank you.

Perfect Turnkey Adventure

So many fun things to do and all at an arms reach! Fantastic lake with fish, wild birds and bullfrogs. Paddle boat and kayaks to the island were a big hit with the kids. Tennis, horseshoes and basketball! All smiles and sunshine! Can’t wait to visit again!

Nice Family Getaway

We enjoyed our stay in the Sunshine Shack and would do so again without hesitation. It was roomy with modern upgrades and the beds were comfortable. We played tennis for a bit and saw a few deer roaming the property. It was very relaxing and peaceful. Iris responded quickly when I needed to get in touch with her and she provided my son with a birthday gift upon arrival which was very sweet and appreciated.

Exactly what we needed

WOW is really all I can say about this property. It's beautiful, secluded and well kept. The cabin was perfect for our family & the kids got a kick out of the nook the 2nd bedroom has the bed set into. The kitchen is beautiful, we cooked all our meals and I don't believe we were missing anything. The lake is serene and great for fishing. It was fun lazily floating and watching the ducks. I can't think of anything that would have made it more perfect. Iris is an amazing host. She is very communicative and thoughtful, we even had a Christmas tree in our cabin and she left a gift for each kiddo! Very impressed with the whole week, we'll be back for sure!

Descanso hidden gem.

Seamless transition from the website to the property. Iris and family are wonderful guests and their property is well appointed for a fantastic get away. Private tennis court with a basketball hoop. Kayaks and a peddle boat at your disposal for use on their private lake which has an abundance of fish if you so desire, we did !!! The two bedroom property is well equipped for all of your cooking needs and sleeping arrangements for the four of us never felt cramped. Iris is great, she even bought new chairs for us to use around the lake... Highly recommend this well groomed private estate, you will not be disappointed.
