Not worth the money.

Terribly let down. Stayed here with wife and two kids. Outside the room was decent and the pool area was ok. The main shallow pool was the best the kids pool mushroom was freezing and the splash pad barely worked. The room itself was a disaster. The mattress was a spring and it had collapsed on my side. The rug was filthy and you need to wear shoes so your feet don't get extremely dirty. There were stains on the rug and couch. The couch cushions constantly fall into themselves. Spotted the largest cockroach I've ever seen in the kitchen on the 12th floor. The washer was loaded with mold and smelled like it. The toilets had stains in them. Had to call for the AC to be repaired. Cieling fan also made noise and needed repair. Turns out the blades were lucky to not fall off and hit us according to repair man. They were installed completely wrong. I have pics of most of these things. We started to take them after it became comical.

Everything was great about the condo. Perfect location to the beach. Enjoyed the pools. Our fridge did have a fish odor which we had to throw all of our food away because of this. The management staff was kind and friendly and did reimburse us for our food loss. Truly enjoyed our first beach vacation as a married couple.

The view was amazing. There are a few things in the room that need attention. There were a couple of upper outlets out. A couple bulbs needed changing and the cable wouldn't work in the master bedroom. However, we loved it and would stay again in the same room just as it is!

What I liked about the Palms of Destin was a clean, comfortable room that stayed cool with ceiling fans - didn't need to use the air conditioning once. They were located close to a Walmart so I was able to get groceries for my condo unit. The pool area is amazing- looks like lagoons in a tropical locale. Hot tub was very large and warm without being scalding. What I didn't like was the lack of communication about checking in and using the amenities at the resort. I had to call and ask about everything because there was never anyone at the so-called front desk and who was there wasn't helpful or knowledgable. They have key codes for everything here - into the building, into the room, into e pool area, etc. I didn't know that until I got there and couldn't get into the building where my condo unit was. I was given the key code for my room upfront and that was it. No warning about needing the code for anything else so I thought the room code would work on everything and it does NOT. No one suggested I would need to go to the front desk to get all the codes I needed, including the WIFI access, and told me that it would be in the packet in my room. It was not. My packet consisted of a vague set of instructions on how to check out (I still had to call to get that clarified) and that was it. The phone number they suggest you call when you have issues - the people there simply refer you back to the front desk and since no one is at the front desk or isn't knowledgable it's useless

I really liked that the property has a large beautiful pool, and a hot tub. The heated pool could have been a bit bigger as it was full when we visited with the weather being cooler. The location is great, at the center of Destin, although wish we could have easily walked to the ocean (across the street, but other hotels blocked it). The room was a good size and was clean, but the balcony faced the parking lot. The only real concern was the funny odor in the room, I think it is from the carpet which could easily be swapped out with new or harder flooring. There is a free shuttle to take you to the beach, which we didn't use, but the idea is great. Overall we were very pleased with our experience at the Palms, and would likely return.
