2 star service and condition (dirty & moldy)

5-star facade with 2-star service and condition. The lobby is beautiful and the room sizes are large (2 bathrooms, a sitting room, and bedroom). However the condition was poor. Our sheets were dirty upon arrival, which they did change (to clean but stained sheets). My mother's room had mold in several places, including the mattress. They reluctantly changed her room. All of the linens and curtains had stains and mold spots; which I'm sure is tough to manage in the climate but they need to be cleaned or changed much more frequently, especially if it's a "5-star" hotel. Our room also had a very strong reoccuring cigarette smoke smell that came in throught the bathrooms. The service was also poor - many examples of inattentiveness and in some cases down right ignoring us from not following through on repeated requests to charging for food that had been returned because it was not what we had ordered. The staff in the restaurant were nice but overall it lacked anything interesting. The coffee was really poor. We also tried the spa and found it to be a mediocre experience. The setting and the lobby are the only parts of this hotel that was 5-star. For the price and descriptions I had much higher expectations. The pros include the setting and surrounding forest and the initial impression you get when you walk into the lobby.

I had high hopes for this resort, it was highly reviewed and the photos were stunning unfortunately I was disappointed with the over experience. Although it has an impressive lobby and location the hotel does not provide a 5 star experience. When you drive in they don't greet you or open car doors. The check in process takes so long that they ask you to have a seat although the lemon tea they provided was excellent. The rooms was average, it only had one phone in the bedroom, one bottle of shampoo and a soap in the guest bathroom. The master bath had more toiletries but the quality is poor. The good thing is you don't need AC there, the climate is perfect. The rooms feel like a two or three star hotel. The lobby looks like a five star and the service is two star. The drive up the mountain is long, the hotel is isolated so you only have their menu to choose from which is an extensive menu with many options. The buffet has very few options. This is my first time to Munnar and had hoped for a luxurious resort experience. Since there isn't much else to do the resort is the experience. Would love to visit again and try a different resort out.

Blissful stay in God's country

One of the best stays for me in Munnar. The hotel staff is amazing and extremely helpful in all matters. Kudos to their restaurant staff for preparing some delicious meals especially Vegetable Biryani and Paneer Recipes for north indian (Delhi) travellers. Being located in the middle of forest it offers seclusion and scenic views and ample opportunity to relax and enjoy your holiday. One of the best decors in a forest setting. Improvement required in Games room and curio shop area.
