My husband and I stayed in the Windermere Estate, a fomer tea plantation. It is located in Munnar, SW India for six days.
It is a beautiful, pleasant abd large estate with several buildings set among misty hills and beautifly tilled fields where tea and spices are still grown. One can go into fields and smell the tea, cardamon or other spices. Rooms are well designed to fit into the natural setting, surrounded by well-tended flowers. There are special spaces designed in not just for eating but for games and…And there is a swimming pool.
Staff were attentive and responsive, making themselves available to go another step when needed.Their demeaners were welcoming and pleasant. Food is good. The area is full of birds, many singing beautifully.

Best resort in Munnar
Publié le 4 janv. 2022 sur HotelsHad an amazing experience at this resort which in middle of an estate. The greenery outside the room is breathtaking and the stay brought us very close to the nature. The rooms are very large and the architecture is brilliant, the woodwork inside the room is great which is a mix of western + Indian culture. The dinner and breakfast we had at the resort was amazing, the service was great especially by Tony. Will definitely recommend this resort for those who love to have a break from routine concrete jungle.

Relaxing Stay on Wonderful Estate
Publié le 18 janv. 2020 sur HotelsAbsolutely wonderful stay in a beautiful, stunning location. The room was spacious and comfortable, the trek through the cardamom plantation was interesting and gorgeous, and all of the food (including the afternoon tea) was delicious. We only stayed one night but didn’t want to leave quickly, so the staff graciously gave us a spare empty room to use on our check out day after we checked out of our original room. We had a wonderful stay and would 100% recommend it (if you can stomach the drive in!).

Munnar getaway
Publié le 30 oct. 2019 sur HotelsThis is a great location for people wanting to somewhere relaxing whilst having things to do and see. It is also a great location to explore the local area by bicycle, although you will need your own bike. Staff and owner were all very friendly and welcoming and accommodating of a request to change a night to their other hotel, Windermere RiverHouse which is amazing too. Food was also excellent.

Feel the Munnar with Windermere....!
Publié le 9 juin 2017 sur HotelsWell, What should i say ? :) The whole experience was "Awesome, Cherishing & Everlasting in our memories" if i should summarize in one sentence.
Me and my cousin were looking for a honeymoon destination in munnar and were searching for our destinations. We contacted many hotels, enquired the details and facilities and finalised it to final 3. Then the only obstacle to decide the final 1 is up-to each one's taste. Well, we prioritised our destination to be nature friendly, more in scenic spot, Classic and typical-hand-architected cottages, good hospitality and calm & serene atmosphere, but still with latest techs., everywhere around.
And if u are a person of our taste, there we don't have to do a double thinking; I strongly suggest "WINDERMERE ESTATE" for you. The location was made little exclusive, so you won't find any sign boards to this resort; - rely on your google map for this; The check-in, familiarisation and introduction to cottage/room amenities etc were good and descent. We stayed there for 3 days and i found it to be one of the best cherishing and lasting good memories in my life (especially if u are a honeymooner :D ). They won't confuse you with their food choices as it the menu is fixed. But u don't have to worry as the food is prepared with utmost care and designed to your taste.
And finally i would say we would like to re-visit the resort some time later as a reminiscence of some good old days, when u turn back pages.

Know its history to really 'get' this unique place
Publié le 12 janv. 2017 sur ExpediaClose to Munnar yet perched high above this slightly scrappy town gives this historical place a lofty view of the verdant valleys. The staff are very helpful and friendly on all levels. We felt it very important to know this place's unique history to really understand what the owners are trying to achieve. Its still a working coffee and cardommon plantation which makes the site feel very real and genuine. The coffee (naturally) is good as well as the food freshly prepared and locally sourced. I notice previous negative comment on the furniture, decor and building design but this is all part of its character and heritage.
