Front door lock malfunctioned. Lost the 1st night of my stay. No response from owners.

Came back the first night and discovered that the top lock on the front door malfunctioned and we were locked out. Left messages on the app, many times, no response. Used the ring on the front door to let then owner know that this is an emergency. No reply. Gave up trying to contact them around midnight. Drove 2 hours back Home, still no response. Called again the next morning and left another message. She finally contacted me & said her husband was on his way to open the door. And later left a message that the door was now unlocked. Lost the first night & was stressed out. Her response was ‘ we are baffled, this never happened before’ no sorry, just a little chuckle. Nice house, nice location but the owners lack of concern about their lock malfunctioning is alarming, especially when they were told that my medication was in there. If you stay there i suggest you dont leave medication, keys, laptops, or phones in there. I am still upset about the lack of concern on the part of the owners. Paid for 2 nights but stayed 1 night, due to their malfunctioning lock. The reviews were very positive so I am still confused. Stay at your own risk. Sleeping outside or in your car is a reasonable option for you, go for it.

Of course we are sorry you had the issue with the door lock. My husband and I provide both our cell phone numbers in case of emergency. We typically don’t monitor the Ring activity when guests are present. We responded as soon as we were aware of the issue. The lock that “malfunctioned” is an indoor security lock similar to what is used in hotel rooms. In the eight years we have owned this property it has never malfunctioned. It is virtually impossible to engage it from outside the property. My husband is still mystified as to how you were able to engage it from outside. He had to break a window frame in order to gain access.
Please let us know what you feel would be a suitable remedy.

Another Great Stay

My family feels comfortable in this cottage it is always clean and updated.Its secluded and private but also right in the heart of Dewey. Perfect space to share with family and your dog!Already scheduled our next visit here in the Spring! I love this cottage❤️

Dewey Beach Stay
Publié le 10 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayThis location is close to the beach and easy to find. Location is great if you want to explore Dewey Beach. It’s also dog friendly, if you have a doggo. In addition, the outdoor shower was helpful for getting sand off before going into the beach.

It has everything you could need and the beds were comfortable. Minor issue was the noise at night ( like after midnight and up through 2 am) from the brewery- but that is to be expected when the location is in the heart of the town. The owners were responsive and kind!
