Points forts : Service et personnel
Points faibles : Propreté, état et installations de l’hébergement
Hostel could use a decor & amenities revamp.
The front desk welcome was stellar. They are also a tour operator so I was able to check-in and line up all my activities at the same time. Their chair at the front desk was great for a hot weary traveler arriving.
The location is great. I got lucky and was put in a room by myself with a bunk bed at no extra charge instead of the 4 person dorm I’d booked as it had filled up.
The cons here are that it could be better maintained and cleaner. I woke up at 5am to go on my tour and neither restroom had toilet paper. I had no choice but to #2 then shower clean and there’s no soap at any of the sinks either. To me not having a soap dispenser for shared bathrooms is a hygiene hazard, especially when the bathroom is connected to the kitchen. The pots and pans are old.
The kitchen lighting leaves to be desired. Your body will cast a shadow on your food prep. There’s ants at the second sink. The living room area has dilapidated unwelcoming couches. This place has so much potential but needs to be revamped as many hostels are better equipped and decorated. There were also no books or board games which are common at hostels. I slept top bunk because that mattress was better. The bottom bunk I could feel the springs and avoided it even though the fan would’ve given me more air there. Martina hostel down the road has fans for every bunk and a better open aired kitchen and common areas for the same price. Private rooms with shared bathrooms (no kitchen) start at $20 at Cabinas Manolo.
