We drove up to the property, and we thought it looked beautiful. It’s close to Duluth, and it feels very secluded. The view of the pond and landscaping was great. There were fresh flowers on the island and the home had a peaceful vibe.
It was humid, so we turned on the air conditioner, and the house didn’t cool down. My brother-in-law tried to turn it on, and it still didn’t work. My husband and father-in-law went down to the basement trying to troubleshoot it. When all simple fixes failed, we contacted the owner, and were told someone would be out the next day.
We were satisfied with that response, but then we discovered that less than 1/2 the windows had screens, and a few windows were broken.
The next day, a representative came, and tried to troubleshoot the a/c. They were unsuccessful; however, they did provide a fan for the room that only had one window. We were told their handyman had a family emergency and they were trying to get a repairman to fix it “under warranty”.
The next day was more of the same although they did bring a portable single room air conditioner in to the room with no airflow. We were offered another location, but that home was not as handicap friendly as the one we were staying at. Given a relative’s mobility issues, it wasn’t an acceptable solution for our family.
When we left, the a/c had not been repaired, and everyone was cranky from the humidity. Overall, the a/c not working over-rode the positive experience we were expecting.
