River Access
Publié le 10 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe house is right next to the river which made fishing and tubing easy and fun. The town of Elkins was a short 15 minute car ride away. We enjoyed taking a train out of the Elkins Depot - it brought us up a mountain to a waterfall. Also, Lambert winery was a fun day trip about an hour ride from the house. JB, the owner , was very generous with his pours. We enjoyed the quiet, rural setting and didn’t mind driving a little to get to different places. Overall, very relaxing.

We had a power outage that presented two problems - one: it would have been nice to have a phone number to contact the owner. two: there are plenty of supplies (lanterns, flashlights, etc.) to handle this but didn't know where they were. This should be noted in your information list. Overall, it is a nice place to spend a week.

Great, Quiet Vacation House even on Memorial Day
Publié le 28 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a great 4 day break and were looking for somewhere quiet compared to most Memorial Day lake locations. The house is right on the river. THe levels were low so it was more thans afe with supervision for our 4 kids ages 4-9 out there. We tubed and kayaked down the river. Unfortunately, water levels were too low for us to get the canoes out but the property has them as well for a very modest watercraft fee ($75) that covers the entire stay. The setting is beautiful, quiet, and full of wildlife. Just what we were looking for. Great hiking is very close.

Test drive before booking with the kids
Publié le 31 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe property was fine although a little sterile feeling. Not cozy but I get it; easy to clean and turnover for guests. Dishwasher stunk badly like another reviewer mentioned.
The biggest turnoff and sole reason for never returning is the surveillance cameras. I understand why an owner would want them but they were not disclosed anywhere. Not disclosing the visible cameras made me wonder if there were more that I could not see. Very disappointed and nearly caused me to abandon the rental. We felt uncomfortable and watched the entire stay. I would not bring my kids to a such a place that could be monitoring their every move and listening to every word spoken.
If you want a secluded river location and don't mind big brother, this place is perfect.

My apologies for our bungalow not meeting your expectations. The home is a modern Lithuanian structure that is sleek in design and function. It is intentionally sterile and maintained as such. The pictures are on the website.
I am going to look at the dishwasher, we had an issue with grease earlier this summer. If there is a residual problem, we may have to replace the dishwasher since this is the second complaint in six months. Thank you for drawing that to our attention.
As for the house cameras, they're exact location and function (no audio) is disclosed in the booking details, before and after you book. Your primary complaints would have been addressed with a thorough review of the property.
We follow VRBO's policies and take pride in that. What you're saying comes off as paranoid and somewhat ridiculous. For clarity, there are only four external cameras, none inside. Most rental properties, VRBO and even hotels included, have cameras to protect the property, not to spy on people. For instance, the cabin is along the river, where flooding is possible. The cameras help keep an eye on the water level, additionally, they keep an eye on wildlife and cattle, not our guests. I encourage you to look more closely to the details before you book a property in the future. You may be disappointed to find that external cameras will be at most, if not all, tourist properties.

Amazing river front cabin

Great remote location that is easily accessible to so much of what this area of WVa has to offer. We hope to come back and enjoy the cabin in the summer. Great find!

Amazing river bungalow!

Beautiful and private spot by the river
