Located on Blue Island Inn's quiet main floor, Waterfront "Mermaid's Retreat" features 1 queen bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, 2 sofa sleepers & Spectacular Lemon Bay views! Manasota Key! On-site pool. 5-minute walk to ocean-side beach & enjoy sandy “Bay Beach” out back. Policies: 1 parking spot. no visitor parking. No pets. No smoking. No boats. Low-key respectful vacationers. Free shared use of 2 kayaks. Cottage-size cute & cozy -ideal for 1 couple or small family as bathroom is off bedroom.

Our wonderful housekeeper and maintenance team live close by. We provide very thorough Guest Welcome information with lots of helpful property & area information - please be sure to review to maximize your vacation experience.

In prime Manasota Key location, Blue Island Inn has spectacular waterfront views of gorgeous Lemon Bay from every Suite so you might never want to leave! We are only a 5-minute walk to a delightfully uncrowded ocean-side beach or enjoy our cute “bay-front beach” right out back.

Blue Island Inn includes 5 waterfront Suites of various sizes - each Suite enjoys a great view of picturesque Lemon Bay. Blue Island Inn offers shared use of a variety of desirable common areas including: sandy "Bay Beach" area out back, 2 kayaks, tropical swimming pool, self-serve tiki bar, Dock for fishing/enjoying Bay Views (firmly no boat docking), outdoor ping pong, and laundry room.

Quick 1 minute drive to five popular family-friendly Key restaurants near the big Englewood beach with live tropical music, very popular free beach yoga classes, reasonably priced water sports rentals – parasailing, sunset cruises etc. 2-mile drive to number 1 ranked attraction of stump pass state beach park - a natural wonderland. Lots more restaurants & shops along Dearborn & nearby Historic Venice Avenue. Stumpy's Free Ride - a tip-based shuttle service - is popular with our guests. Enjoy!

Mermaid’s Retreat is on the first floor of the charming Blue Island Inn on a quiet, safe, relaxing nice island street. You will receive a 4 digit code - along with the vacation villa address - to your entrance door which work on your dates so you don't need to worry about keys! super easy! ONE car parking spot (there's no other parking & I don't have other safe parking ideas that aren't a high TOW RISK - so please only plan to bring one car or choose another property. )

Car rentals are the best, easiest, most reasonably priced way to get to and from Manasota key. Stumpy's Free Ride is a popular tip-based local shuttle service our guests like to use to get around the Key

Each of our places has a free high-speed WIFI, Beach towels, folding beach chairs, Sand toy set & all linens provided. Charcoal grills (guest to provide own charcoal). Free use of our laundry room on main floor.

Free shared use of swimming pool, Bay-front beach area, Fishing Dock, outdoor seating, outdoor Ping-Pong table, and self-serve Tiki Bar area.

Free shared use of our kayaks (for age 21 & up) to explore picturesque Lemon Bay. Dolphins often spotted.

Free high-speed WIFI. Keurig-style coffee maker & we also offer traditional coffee maker.

Like hotels - we supply "starter supplies" - toilet paper, folded paper towels, sample size coffee, tea, etc. to get you going -- then there's a Dollar Tree nearby or grocery stores if you want additional supplies.

All was great. Only want to point out that the door leading into bathroom was stuck and appears to be water damaged or rotted in the bottom. Also could not turn on the main light by living room/kitchen area. Not complaining, just thought you should know.

It was perfect!
This was the perfect get away spot! Communication with home owners was spot on with details about stay, check-in, and local attractions. Very clean and comfortable. There was even a tray of teas, snacks, and amenities. My biggest dilemma was deciding whether I wanted to hang out at the pool or the beach. Tough decisions! I highly recommend Mermaid's Retreat!

Enjoying the beach and warm weather
Our boys (10,12,14) loved fishing off the dock and each of them caught some fish. The short walk to the ocean was a daily event. We found shells and shark teeth! The sunsets on the ocean were great. We grilled each night, swam in the pool, made ourselves pina coladas and took advantage of the peace and quiet to read books and play games. We had a great time!

Everything at this property was wonderful! Very peaceful and relaxing! The Mermaids Retreat was absolutely magnificent. It was very clean, comfortable and welcoming! It was more than we expected and offered special touches. There was nothing that we did not like, and we highly recommend! We will most certainly stay again!!!

Was a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation. The rental had everything you could possibly need. Amy was very happy to help you with suggestions about activities in the area. The pool was not heated when we arrived and they had the pool guy there the next morning to have it fixed. The private beach across the street was beautiful!!! They provided beach chairs and towels as well. Would definitely stay again!!!

Great view right on the bay. Easy check in and out. Lots to do in the area. Beaches were just perfect. If your a shell hunter, theres not a better area. The apartment was very relaxing and felt like home. Already planning to go back!

Manasota Birthday Vacation
Great location with a beautiful beach! We had a wonderful detail stay while on Manasota Key. Beach was a convenient walk from the Blue Island Inn. The host Amy gave us some great recommendations for dinners out. The state order at the end of the island had some great walking trails with beautiful views! Highly recommend!

The location and view were awesome, place was very clean, stocked with all the amenities you would need. My partner and I loved watching the sunrise in the morning and even got to do some fishing off the dock. Hosts were very communicative and available for any questions. 10/10 would love to stay again!

Relaxing and Comfortable
My son and I stayed in the Mermaid Retreat. We had plenty of room, and was even better than expected. The furnishings and bedding is very comfortable and clean. The peaceful atmosphere allowed for a great escape. Even days when just lounging around, the amenities have a vacation feel. The morning view of the bay is a great part of enjoying morning coffee, and a dip in the pool. The beach is actually a 5 min walk as described. Communication with property management is easy and friendly. Amy is great, and have us info on places to go, restaurants etc…. I will definitely come back!!

First timer here
Our Family was able to take our first vacation together along with booking a VRBO. Our Family will be coming back to this VRBO because we loved the convenience of the short walk to the Gulf, My husband went fishing off the dock a lot we did take the kayaks out, and it was just very relaxing atmosphere for me. I think what I loved the most was how quite the Gulf was when we walk to it. For us there was no more one group of 6 ever down there. It was a lot easier to watch my kids in the water than when we went to other public entrance areas where it was a longer walk and people everywhere. Thank you for a wonderful family Vacation!

Great location! I was worried about not being beachfront but the bay offered fun activities too. We kayaked and got to see dolphins up close! Fishing equipment available to use. The beach was only a couple minute walk. All beach chairs and toys provided. Overall great experience!! Our kids are already asking when we are coming back!!

Look No Further
This is THE place for a perfect little getaway in a quiet, respectful neighborhood with access to what feels like a private beach! We were greeted with a lovely welcome gift of a bottle of wine and snacks and after our long day of travel, it was so appreciated. The spaces, although compact, were perfect for my family of 4. The unit was extremely clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal, including a fantastic spice rack! The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable. The dock was a great place for morning coffee, the pool was clean and so fun and the private access to the gorgeous beach was the cherry on top! Amy really has thought of everything. She was super easy to work with, responsive and offered wonderful local recommendations. We cannot wait to return!
