Amazing stay, disappointing diner

Could not fault the hotel itself, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and were all so friendly. The rooms are lovely, great powerful shower so overall really good value for money. Knocked one star off due to both experiences in the diner for breakfast. We went for breakfast on our first morning, diner was quiet but food took a little while to arrive (service was lovely still - can’t fault that!) when it did arrive my bacon looked like pork scratchings it was so overdone (maybe to some taste but not mine) the waitress acknowledged this as she gave it to me but took it back instantly to be replaced. Meanwhile my partners eggs benedict was freezing cold and the eggs hard, I politely brought this to the waitresses attention and this was quickly rectified - second lot of food much nicer. Next morning decided to go in for just a coffee as was a bit apprehensive about trying the food again, waited a short while to be seen to a table and then forgotten about. We waited 20 or so minutes for someone to come and take our order, watching people seated after us be seen to, so decided to leave without ordering anything and grab a coffee elsewhere - which is a shame as the coffee was lovely.
