The hotel was a great base to explore the Tikal ruins from, being only about a 10 minute walk from the temple ruins. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was good enough, but the WiFi signal in my room was weak, and like all the hotels in the park, electricity gets cut at 9. If you’re going earlier in the year, that’s probably fine—but the days that I was there, the region was experiencing record heat in the 40s/100s, and so sleeping comfortably was almost impossible without even a fan to circulate the air. Not having electricity at night does mean that the sky really does light up with the stars and you really do hear the sounds of the forest that you are surrounded by.
I don’t see myself going back to Tikal anytime soon, but if I were, I would think twice about staying in the park again.
