Cozy getaway
Publié le 4 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayCozy cabin with beautiful grounds. Remote location but many things to do in the area within a reasonable drive. Lower level does not heat nearly as well as upstairs. A space heater was provided for each bedroom but circuit kept tripping when running both.

Labor Day Retreat
Publié le 4 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayMy wife, another couple and I were looking for a long weekend away and this fit the bill. Close to several state parks where we went hiking plus a quiet getaway. We loved it.

Lovely Place in the Woods
Publié le 31 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe loved the screened in porch! We spent every evening after hiking listening to music and visiting out there. It stormed for hours one night and it was fantastic to sit out there and watch it all around us. It was nice and quiet during our stay. There is another home nearby that shares the driveway, but the lush green trees kept it from our view. My son saw a bear a few minutes from the property. It was fun to be out in the middle of nowhere. Everything was more than adequate for our simple needs.

Weekend in the mountains
Publié le 29 mai 2023 sur HomeAwayBeautiful spot with natural canopy. The screened porch was a favorite spot to listen to the birds and the breeze in the trees. We had a lovely weekend and hope to return!

Just right!
Publié le 8 mai 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had a lovely stay. My son loved the downstairs twin room and Gram thought the upstairs bedroom was very comfortable. I also slept downstairs; we definitely needed to use the space heaters in the lower bedrooms.
The enclosed porches were very nice, although it was cool and damp so we weren’t hanging out there much - I could see them being used in warmer weather. Kitchen, dining area and living space were all clean, comfortable and we were able to enjoy home cooked meals, games and tv time.

Great Family time
Publié le 27 déc. 2022 sur HomeAwayWe stayed there for Christmas and had a very relaxing weekend. The owners even called to check and make sure we had everything we needed and to warn us that we might lose power because of weather which we never did. We would definitely stay there again

Loved the Relaxation
Publié le 7 nov. 2022 sur HomeAwayWe loved our stay at this cute cabin. The kitchen was well stocked so all you need to do is bring food and drinks. The house was very clean when we arrived. The best part of the cabin is the screened porch. I spent all my time out there from the morning til night.
I was little taken back about how close the neighbors were beside us. I wasn't ready for the traffic to and from their home was during our stay.
We did notice the downstairs of the home is definitely cooler than the upstairs but it didn't bother us so much. The beds were very comfortable!
The fire pit area is in the very back of the property. It does need to be cleaned up a bit. There were buckets and chairs that looked like they were thrown around, but could be from the wind. Also, there was an old cushion and oil bottle were near the firepit. BUT, we enjoyed our fire Saturday night.
Overall, we love love the cabin. We had a fantastic time and the screen porch is what I absolutely loved.

Pros and Cons from 9/2022 Trip
Publié le 11 oct. 2022 sur HomeAwayThis cabin is rustic, definitely out in the woods, deep into nature in Fort Valley not far from Front Royal, VA. The furniture is a little aged but nice. The cleanliness was borderline; a number of things from the dishes to the bathroom pieces to the couch honestly did not feel super clean when we got there, but it is a forest cabin after all so some of this is expected. But we did feel like we needed to clean all the dishes before we used them and did so. The bathroom floors also did not give a lot of confidence in cleanliness honestly. The internet and phone heat and AC do work well. The screened in deck and porch was nice and one of the nicest features. Pleasant little yard in back,. The beds are comfortable and linens are pleasant. The bathroom tubs/showers do have rather strong copper stains in the plastic, but this does not mean they are dirty. The water from the area has just stained the plastic rather deeply over time.
The biggest thing we struggled with was that all four of us in our party woke up with ticks on us while sleeping. One of the gentleman in the basement bedroom woke up from sleeping and had three ticks on his body at around 3 AM. He had to take a shower and check his body for more. Both of our female guests upstairs had ticks crawling or lodged on their skin when they woke up - two ticks on one of our ladies and one tick on the other lady. I had a tick on me that I found the next morning when we were all realizing this. I removed it right away. It turns out I had another one one me that had gotten very lodged into my skin which I did not discover until five days later. Once I got that one out, well sadly I have now developed a large red symptomatic area where that tick was that has not gone away even though our reservation was four weeks ago. I am deeply concerned now if I have gotten Lyme disease from this due to the red area, and I am taking medications in hopes to fight this off. This is, understandably, pretty upsetting to me. :(
I understand this cabin is deep in the woods of the Appalachian mountains and that ticks live in these hills. I am not sure what the owners can do to prevent this, but we were all shaken up after every member of our four person party had at least one and as many as three ticks climb onto our bodies at night while sleeping in the beds in the cabin.
Otherwise, it is a pleasant cabin with amenities if you don't mind a little aged rustic feel.

Hi Ryan, we're glad you enjoyed the amenities and the yard! We take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: We have high standards of hospitality for our property to ensure our guests have a memorable stay. We're truly sorry to hear that you did not have the five-star experience we endeavor to provide our guests.
- Cleanliness is highly important to us and the home is professionally serviced and cleaned thoroughly for every arrival, and this includes any dishes left behind. We have recently replaced the dishwasher to ensure it is functioning properly and alleviate any concerns about dishes.
- As the cabin is in a remote area, it has well water that leaves calcium/lime stains. To ensure efficiency, we treat at the tubs and showers at least quarterly to remove the stains.
- We are terribly sorry to hear of the tick incidents and hope for the best outcome. Ticks are an unfortunate nuisance in the region. They were very likely caught while outside of the cabin, as they don't survive indoors. We appreciate the feedback and will include some precautionary measures for guests and their pets to take to remain safe.
We recognize the benefits of improving our guest's experiences, and your review is pivotal towards implementing our next steps. We truly go above and beyond for our guests. We are confident that future guests will have excellent stays.
