Overall a good experience
Publié le 14 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayOverall we had a good time. The location is absolutely beautiful, the space was good but the drive up was a struggle. I had read the reviews and was confident that if a Prius can make it, my Kona EV could make it. It was a challenge. I got stuck at one point, even rolling backward. I could not get my car to move forward. After, trying and trying and smelling burning from my vehicle, we finally made it. But because of the challenge we felt like we couldn't leave or we would risk the same challenge again, which was quite scary, especially with two kids and the very narrow road. I would recommend 4 wheel drive/AWD and arriving before dark as I think navigating after dark for the first time would be near impossible. Chloe is awesome, communicative and helpful.

Not What We Expected
Publié le 10 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed getting together for the weekend and saw many sites in the area. The cabin was just too far off the beaten path for us. We didn’t feel comfortable on the roads at night so we stayed in.

Hi Cassie,
Thank you for your review and for choosing our cabin for your weekend getaway. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your time together and exploring the local sites.
Our cabin is indeed called "Cabin in the Woods" because of its secluded, peaceful location. It's designed to be a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We understand that the remote setting and lack of street lights might feel a bit different, especially at night, and we appreciate your feedback.
We hope the tranquility and natural beauty of the area made up for the distance. We'd love to host you again if you ever seek another peaceful escape.
Best regards,
Chloe

Not exactly what we expected!
Publié le 18 oct. 2021 sur HomeAwayPros: Beautiful, secluded spot. Two-story house with full first floor to ourselves. Fully stocked kitchen. Roomy bedrooms and baths. Pet friendly.
Cons: This property was further out than we expected, a 30 minute drive from town. The owner did give us very clear directions which was helpful since there is virtually no internet service. We were told the key would be on the table when we arrived but after arriving we were told there was no key and that she was in the process of replacing the lock. She assured us no one would come into the house but we did not like the idea of leaving without being able to lock the door. There was a very strong odor like a very old house that had been closed up for a long time but the owner said she was not aware of it. Luckily, we had candles that we burned to cover the odor.
Overall: Steep gravel driveway, four-wheel drive highly recommended. This location was not exactly to our liking so we would not stay again.

Beautiful escape!
Publié le 18 oct. 2021 sur HomeAwayWhat a beautiful location up in the NC mountains. The location was perfect for the places we visited but we like the backroads. Yes, the driveway is steep, but nothing crazy and the gravel helps. Chloe the owner is great and responsive.
We enjoyed our stay so much and there was plenty of room for all 4 of us, and our dog! We would highly recommend Chloe’s rental.

Was a nice relaxing stay. The driveway was a little challenging. Internet connection was scarce.

Overall it was a nice stay
Publié le 1 juill. 2021 sur HomeAwayit was an awesome vacation altogether. The gravel road drive is really a hurdle if you are traveling at night. Otherwise, it's a nice hideout. The property owner was always there to answer your questions. We saw few deers and a large king snake nearby.
Thanks

Renter beware
Publié le 29 juill. 2020 sur HomeAwayThe driveway to the house about 1/2 mile gravel which they said and said put in low gear but if you have a small car it’s very difficult to get up that driveway you wouldn’t make it in the winter. The drive to town is 25 min like they said but it’s a long drive pretty but way to log unless you’re staying at the house. The furniture is like from the thrift store old and way to much of it to many old different pictures and nic nac’s old yellow placemats and bedsheets. Only a couple of towels and I asked if there were towels ahead of time. There is nowhere to walk your dog and there is no view. I would not want someone to get the wrong impression like I did of the pics on line. We did leave a day early and would of left sooner but I was closing on a home so we couldn’t. The stove does not work good and the air conditioning makes so much noise in the one bedroom you have to wear earplugs. There was so much I cannot go into but hope you get what I’m saying. Would not want someone to be as disappointed as we were.
