Mountain cabin

The property management would not allow us to cancel/reschedule after Hurricane Helene swept through this area, as the storm hit less than 30 days from our arrival. Fortunately power had been restored and authorities began allowing non - residents back in before our trip. Franklin was spared, but we were unable to visit other planned area.
Bring your own cards/games as all in the cabin were missing pieces.
That said, it was a well appointed cabin.

Mouse House
Publié le 4 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe really wanted to love this property, but unfortunately our stay was a disaster. This cabin is infested with mice. We noticed a mouse on our first night (we stayed 3 nights). We immediately notified the property manager who assured us that someone would address the issue. It went from bad to worse as the night went on with us hearing mice in the kitchen all night. We had to protect the food we brought and our sleep was significantly disrupted. The next day we bought a mouse trap, captured two mice and sent pics to the manager, who assured us over and over that someone would be out to help. No one ever came. There were mouse droppings on the kitchen counters, kitchen drawers including the utensil drawer. We found droppings on the floor, in closets, and in upstairs bathroom. We were unable to use the kitchen as expected and the outside grill was also covered with droppings. The most disturbing part of all of this was the lack of response from the property manager who just kept telling us help was on the way and to be patient. We still feel yucky about this entire experience even days later. I am confused about all the positive reviews about this property as it was obvious this was not a new problem. Overall the cabin has lots of potential but needs TLC. Desperately needs new beds, bedding, and towels. The pillows are worn and hardly pillows anymore. There was also a lot of hair embedded in towels and on sheets, which appeared clean, but maybe poor laundering?

Holiday Sanctuary

Cute cabin
Publié le 14 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe found the cabin to be very cute with plenty of room for four adults. It was also well stocked and we found everything we needed for the meals we cooked. The location of the cabin was nice as well… close, but not too close, to town.
I would not recommend the pull-out couch in the loft for sleeping arrangements for an adult as it was not very comfortable to sleep on. However, it would probably be fine for children.
The rental company was very easy to work with and everything from checking-in to checking-out was pretty straightforward.
Overall, no complaints and would probably stay again.

Worst Stay Ever

On the morning of the wedding, my daughter came to me and said her dog had found rodent bait. She and her fiancé were unable to attend the wedding since they had to rush the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic.
The vet bill and follow-up visits total $1161.09 so far. She has one more follow-up visit to be sure no poison remains in her body.
I contacted Vacasa, the property management company, numerous times on the phone, via texts, and through VRBO messaging. They told me the dog owner was responsible for the vet bill.
The property is advertised as pet friendly. I asked them if there was any more rodent bait in the house and they said they did not know. I asked them what if a child had found the bait? No response.
I sent the owner certified mail on 28 Oct 2023 (I obtained his name and address from the Macon County Tax Department) documenting this problem. This envelope was returned to me today (14 Nov 2023) as undeliverable.
We encountered a couple more problems with the property which I did not report as I figured they would not be resolved either.
I contacted VRBO and they refunded me their portion of the reservation.
What was supposed to be an enjoyable family weekend turned into a nightmare.
It looks like I will be filing a small claims case. Thankfully I have a lot of photos and documentation to submit with my claim.
