We stayed here with some of our dance friends for a competition at Fuquay High School. The neighborhood is charming and kid friendly. Itâs a great location to town but yet feels so secluded. The host communication was great and she was able to suggest a fun afternoon activity after a morning of dancing. We appreciate you sharing your home with us!
Very cozy house in a quiet neighborhood. Close to anything youâd need. Renters are very communicative and professional! It felt like a fantastic blend of a cozy home to stay, and a hotel experience!
The home was clean and as described. No issues except that bath towels located in the top of the closet in the master bath were damp. Very easy check in and check out. Plenty of room for entire party.
Just a little miss communication about the check in process, but that got resolved quickly. The property was roomy and well supplied. My families 4 toddlers had a fantastic time playing in the upstairs kids play room for hours. We used the overhead projector to entertain the kids with a childrens movie. If there had been a safety gate at the top of the stairs it would have been absolutely perfect.
We enjoyed our stay at this house. We arrived waaay to early and the owners allowed us to check in early. They usually have an early check-in fee and they were gracious enough to waive the fee. The location was great. This is a house that is great for families with young children. Very accommodating.
The kids were thrilled with the playroom and toys - the projections screen was great - DVD's were not there but we had our own -the beds were comfortable - some of the pillows were not - there was sufficient amount of towels but the quality lacked -we had to go and buy paper towels and garbage bags but there was plenty of laundry soap - the deck was very dirty but there was a hose and broom for us to use - the dining room chairs were in horrible condition - one was not usable - the oven was having issues but the stovetop was good - we had a great time there - the host was very nice and responded every time we reached out
Overall an ok stay for our needs. Not enough seating for 7 adults. 4 kitchen chairs and only a couch in living room. (What happened to the brown chair in the photos?)Please replace your bath towels. We ended up finding plenty but looked like rags with stains and holes.
The location was perfect for family wedding. 4 miles from venue. I agree with other reviewers, it could use some tlc, freshen up, but it worked out for our trip. We had a couple of issues, the host was quick to respond. Lots of parking. Lots of space.
Overall, potential to be a nice property.
However, cleanliness needs to better and the property could use one or two days of maintenance work (for example, the front door handle is loose, the bathroom door did not latch (we had to fix it) and the kitchen table chairs need to be fixed or replaced.
We still had a nice stay and it fit all of our family members.
We picked this rental because it had a backyard space for kids to play. However within a couple minutes of being there my kids got stung by the wasps that live in the nest in the playground. The back porch was pretty dirty and table and chairs had more wasp nests. We went to use the charcoal grill but it was full of ashes and dirty and we had to clean everything. Inside was surface level clean but definitely could use a deep clean. Also, bring your own silverware because there are only 5 forks for the whole 5 bedroom house.
The property is in in great location; beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Very easy to get to and from Lillington where the family is. house is very large and and can accommodate a large group. There was a nice welcome basket when we arrived. The master bathroom was set up nicely for guests. There were travel bottles of shampoo, lotion etc in both downstairs bathrooms but nothing in the upstairs bath. Here are the issues:
1. The televisions did not work - all of them.
2. There no movies for the movie projector; no game room per se accept for the loft area for children.
3. There is no hot tub or glass top stove
4. There is no leather lounger in the livingroom as the picture notes.
5. There are holes in the walls in every room where items were removed but walls not patched.
6. Screen door was completely gone but hardware there
7. floor was sticky so you couldn't walk barefoot.
8. Bins in loft against the wall were removed and sign laying against the wall (picture is different).
9. Empty bottle of hand wash in downstairs bathroom
10. no extra blankets or bath towels. sheets are polyester and keep popping off the mattress so every day you had to pull the bottom sheet back on to the mattress.
11. deck is full of moss; one of the steps is rotted; the deck table/chairs haven't been cleaned in forever. There are 3 dirty plastic adirondeck chairs; one broken
14. Window treatments gone; blind slats broken; clocks hadn't been set to daylight savings time
My 2-year-old grandson loved this place. Tons of outdoor spaces to run around in, climbing structures, and swings. Inside the entire upstairs was mostly geared towards young people and family time. The crib was a huge benefit...and the home being kid-friendly was a primary reason for choosing the house. With 2.5 bathrooms and five separate sleeping areas, there was space for all to be away from each other if desired.
We were in town for a wedding and wanted a short drive time between the rehearsal dinner in Fuquay Varina, and the wedding venue at a castle in Angier. The Carolina House fulfilled our needs. The cost wasn't extravagant, and the amenities were not posh...it just felt like home. We wanted comfort and convenience and got both.
A couple of minor fixes would enhance the property but we weren't paying Four Season hotel prices and didn't have lofty expectations. The home is comfortable and nice to have the added amenities of a w/d, movie projector (didn't use though), and the kid/toddler set up of crib, toys, and outdoor space.
The cleaning crew was in the driveway right at check-out time and had to move their vehicle so we could get out, so be prepared for that...and in the age of bogus listings, etc., knowing that you won't get the "keys to the property" info until shortly before check-in time would be helpful. I was starting to panic if we had a legit place.
Overall a pleasant, convenient stay.
The house was nice. A few issues that we saw was they listed and showed pictures of the movie projector and movies. There were no movies. The master bedroom had a tv was not hooked up to anything, It did have roku but I found the connector and original box in the bedside stand. The stove in the listing showed a glass top stove. the stove that is there is an old electric burner and the inside of the stove was dirty, looks like never cleaned and must of been switched out. Also mentioned early in the year, the doorknob to master bedroom is installed wrong, still had not been fixed. The 2 trash bins outside were filled, not sure if we were supposed to see that the trash collector picked them up. The pictures really need to be updated with the current items in the house.
Place was perfect for us. We pretty much just slept there and had breakfast as Family Thanksgiving get together is held in Apex so most meals, turkey trot, pickleball tourney and games are held there.
**Overall Rating**: 2/5
Summary:
Despite a favorable location, the property is marred by outdated appliances, lapses in cleanliness, and a few specific concerns that detract from the guest experience. Not recommended for repeat visits.
1. **Location**: The location remains a notable advantage, offering excellent proximity to local attractions and conveniences.
2. **Appliances**: The age and functionality of the appliances leave room for improvement, impacting the overall quality of stay.
3. **Cleanliness**: The property maintains a basic level of cleanliness, but there are notable areas that require attention, such as a wet bath mat and dirty dishes.
4. **Bath Mat Issue**: The soaking wet bath mat was a significant concern, questioning the property's maintenance standards.
5. **Kitchen Concerns**: Additional issues included wet dishes left in the cabinet and expired salt, which are points of concern for hygiene and guest comfort.
6. **Window Coverings**: The absence of a curtain for the large kitchen windows affects privacy and comfort, and is a surprising oversight in otherwise furnished accommodation.
Final Thoughts:
The property's drawbacks, especially in cleanliness and upkeep, outweigh its positive aspects. Given these issues, it is difficult to recommend for future stays.
We all had a great time, the kids enjoyed the play area, there was a little mud by play area outside and a tree hanging over fence, and the tv in the master bedroom didn't work, but over all we enjoyed ourselves there
Place was really cute and fun for the kids.
Overall, a fun place for the kids. Movie projector and play room upstairs were big hits. The place was pretty clean and smelled nice.
Everyone agreed there were some things that could use some TLC: the master bedroom doorknob is installed backwards, meaning you can't lock the door without being stuck there. The backyard was too muddy for the kids to play, and there was no fence (I think the pictures made me think there was one). Kitchen doors and drawers were broken/missing handles.
All pretty minor things for us but could also be easily fixed.
Overall, great place for a family trip with little ones!
We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of space for everyone to sleep. The outside looks like it is small, but dont let that deceive you. Nice backyard for the kids to play as well. We were only there for a couple of days, but worth it.
