Great location and amenities with a few issues.
Publié le 9 déc. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe stayed at this home for a yearly friends' Christmas that we have every year in Galena. I'll start with the good, and then follow with the not so good.
The home was cozy and had all of the amenities you would want for a large group to enjoy some time away. The main floor layout is great and accommodates a large group spending time with each other. The wood burning fireplace was awesome. The beds were super comfy and each room having their own bathroom was amazing. The deck was large and very nice, and the hot tub worked perfectly & was clean.
All that said - there were some issues we ran into. The house was not very clean - especially the ceiling fans. There was a THICK layer of dust caked on the fans and we couldn't use them. This was super disappointing because the fans are really nice when you have a lot of people in the same space. We also heard some friendly woodsy critters between the first and second floor (in the basement ceiling). We assume the noise was a squirrel or mouse. This is not uncommon in a heavily wooded area like Galena.
The last thing was that the host didn't seem to really take any responsibility for these things when we let them know. Don't get me wrong - they were very nice & helpful during out stay - but when we brought up these issues (more to just let them know so they can improve), the response was mostly just "we have cleaners, we have an exterminator that came so this shouldn't have been an issue."

Thanks for your review and for choosing my home. I'm happy you enjoyed the house, except for the two issues you mentioned. However, you misunderstood my response. I apologized for the dusty fans and told you there was no excuse for them not being clean. These fans are over 20 feet in the air and take special equipment. Two days after you left, all of the fans were cleaned. I'm sorry they were not clean for your stay. Relative to the critter, I explained that this sometimes happens and that when it does, we call the exterminator to block whatever entry points have been opened by the squirrel. This home is on a wooded lot in a rural area, and critters are sometimes part of the deal. I explained this to you and did not intend you to think I didn't care about your issue. The point was that I could do nothing about it while you were there. The exterminator was at the house two days later and resolved the problem. We also invested in two noise-blocking machines for the affected bedrooms. This home has a Vrbo rating of "Exceptional," we maintain that rating by listening to the guests and resolving issues that come up during a stay, even if that's not possible on a weekend. Thanks again for your review, and I'm glad you enjoyed the house, even with the few minor problems you had. You were a 5-star guest, and I hope you will revisit this home or one of our other homes in the future.

Great thanksgiving stay

My Husband’s 50th B day
Publié le 11 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayWhat a property! We were spoiled with all the room an indoor pool and hot tub, outdoor games, fire pit and on and on. Love love love the kitchen with double everything! We truly enjoyed the property and the deer and my favorite part was all the stars. Highly recommend for a large family or group.

Beautiful home, perfect for group setting.
Publié le 30 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe fact that each room has an en suite bathroom was so convenient for our group! Beautiful setting and the owners club was a huge hit with our group. Note - families with young children, you'll want to be cautious of the stairs. We were able to move some furniture and stack coolers to keep it more "baby proof" for our littles.
