Very run down and basic
Posted Jan. 31, 2022 on HotelsPossibly the smallest room Ive ever stayed in. Bed was comfortable. Furniture was old and in poor shape, stained lampshade on the tiny desk. Glass door to bathroom so all light flooded thru there. Curtains did not meet in the middle in the bedroom.
Bathroom was designed as a wet room, no shower curtain, awkward tiny 1cm "step" between toilet and shower. Kept falling over it.
Windows and glass shelf in bathroom were very dirty. Tiled floor in bathroom very slippery when wet no mat provided. Ceiling fan in bedrroom rattled and wobbled. Air Conditioning worked well.
The "roof terrace" was broken and dirty, two hammocks hung there in shreds.
The pictures shown on hotels.com bear no resemblance to current reality.
I do NOT recommend this property.

Great staff, super helpful and very pleasant. Room itself wasn’t exactly what we were expecting, but that’s okay. Great location.

Pleasant in every way

PERFECT location, right in the heart of the fort. Friendly staff always available to help with whatever is needed. Comfortable beds. Quiet rooms.

They transferred us to a bad hotel
Posted Jan. 4, 2019 on HotelsWhenever you look for a hotel for your stay, you browse every possible hotel until you find the one you want to stay at. Then imagine that the hotel you booked transfers you to another hotel, one that you discarded while browsing. Giving you a “ocean view” room, with no, or minimal, ocean in sight.. this is what Muhsin Villa decided to do with our reservation. They moved us to a hotel called Sunset Fort, a horrible hotel, away from the fort center, a hotel we would never have booked. Very disappointed!! On top of that, we paid more for the room at Muhsin that we never got than the room rate is at Sunset Fort. We would never book Muhsin again!

Thank you for the review left and this reviews is extremely shocking and saddening to see after all what we did to them.
At Muhsin Villa we do not have any ocean views neither we have advertised as such.Only thing whats true of this review is, true after talking to the Guests we moved them to Sunset Fort and upon their presence there the first words of the lady was "WOW" .They were praising us and said wonderful stuff of the room we have upgraded.Our room would not have a Kettle but the room they stayed had.Our rooms do not have private balconies but their one did.We even arranged them a free breakfast to be provided.Its saddening to hear as its a fact that right away from the balcony you can sight the Sun Set and the ocean.After all the moving done personally by us and a refreshing beverage we took them there upon their consent.
The worst thing is we even arranged a car for free to Weligama for them to be dropped off as they were acting so nice with us.We have never done so much to a Guest I suppose and all these were taken humbly and they appreciated all alot and to see this review thrown is saddening and heart breaking.Probably the first review we got in this range after doing this many complimentary things with great appreciation and then later a back stab.
Customer has the right to criticize but we never expected this review at all rather was expecting a Super review from them for the free transportation arranged along with all the other offers and upgrades.
This review actually saved me in a way as I cannot assume the dissatisfaction if they would have been hosted at Muhsin Villa if with all the upgrades the barrage of complaints thrown.
Your constructive criticism always helps us and thats how we are in this position today and Best wishes from the entire team.

Great place to stay

Amazing stay at Muhsin Villa
Posted Oct. 16, 2018 on HotelsThe stay at Muhsin Villa was amazing. Check-in was super fast. We stayed here for 2 nights. Souad and Zahir were great hosts. I had nice chat with Zahir. Breakfast was good too. The best thing about this place is the location. It is at the center of the fort. Just opposite to Deco on 44. We really enjoyed the stay here. Room was clean. We got hot water in the shower. Nothing to complain of the price we pay. It is completely value for money.
