Good facilities, close to old town pubs
Posted Sep. 21, 2016 on HotelsEasy check in, good facilities and generally clean. Some guests brought plates and food into the rooms which were left there overnight. Also some guests being very loud at 3am in the supposedly quiet area, when there is a common room downstairs. Staff need to enforce the rules to ensure comfort for all guests. Rooms a little warm and stuffy but much better than most hostels, comfortable beds, storage lockers and plugs/reading lights/usb at each bed.

A great place to stay while you settle into Galway
Posted Aug. 31, 2016 on Wotif
Pros: Clean; quiet; never overcrowded; friendly staff; good kitchen and laundry facilities; located in the heart of Galway City Centre; close to everything.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind. Any minor shortcomings would be due to the fact that the Savoy is still a hostel, not an expensive hotel.
Location: Everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE i needed to go over the course of my stay was within 15 minutes by foot. Shops/Bars/Clubs/Restaurants/Beach/Gym/Uni.
After hearing about the rental accommodation shortage in Galway, I decided to book in for a 2 week stay at the Savoy. As an incoming student from abroad, I wanted a place that was at first cheap, and second, clean and comfortable enough to allow me to withstand a two week stay while I searched the city for a permanent place to live. As this was my first time in a hostel, I was a tad apprehensive; however, I was pleasantly surprised. I found the Savoy to be clean, comfortable and much quieter than expected. The communal areas were clean and never overcrowded, while there was always ample room to store food, cook and wash/dry my clothes (important given my lengthy stay). The staff were very friendly and always on hand to assist and the other guests were nearly always considerate. Not only would I recommend the Savoy for incoming travelers, but also for anyone wishing to find alternative longer-term living arrangements if their options in the rental market are running dry.

best hostel in Galway City
Posted Aug. 24, 2016 on HotelsThis was our second stay at the Savoy in Galway. I cannot say enough good things about the Savoy and it's staff. I've stayed in many hostels over the years on 3 continents. Some very nice, some not so nice, but the Savoy is number one in my book. The staff was so accommodating, I felt like a 5 star luxury hotel guest. A special shout out to Paul, the manager. Great guy! Be nice to him!
