BISON HALLOW on the YELLOWSTONE RIVERFRONT

Enjoy the relaxing sounds of the waterfall across from the cabin that flows year-round and the Yellowstone River as it meanders past the Bison Hallow. Located only 300 yards from the border to Yellowstone National Park and 4.5 miles from the town of Gardiner/the Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance. The spacious patio offers a beautiful setting to take in the mountain views while reminiscing about the days adventures. With a gas grill and seating for all 8 - it is the perfect place to establish base camp for your Yellowstone vacation.

The cabin has two bedrooms with 4 commercial queen beds. Each bedroom has a private ensuite (full) bathroom. The Bison Hallow is cozy and beautifully decorated with a theme honoring the great American icon, the Sacred Bison.

Each year Yellowstone National Park culls up to 900 bison – this sad event (which involves treaty rights) allows men to line up on the road, shoot entire herds – even heavily pregnant females that are ready to drop newborn calves within 30-120 days. If you chose to walk the field cross the gravel road – please carry bear spray and pay your respects to the fallen. You’ll find several bones in the bison graveyard….

We do occasionally see bears, mountain lions, wolves, bison and rattlesnakes on the property and we frequently have deer and elk - especially in the spring and fall. The property does have exterior cameras to for the protection and safety of our property and guests. Many times the elk will eat right outside the patio and bed down for the day. Please do not approach or feed any of the wildlife. You should always maintain 25 yards distance between elk, deer & bison and 100 yards from bears, wolves and mountain lions.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour à Gardiner! C'était notre résidence pour les 6 jours que nous avions pour visiter Yellowstone. Nous avons aimé déjeuner avec le son de la rivière, et la vue sur les montagnes est magnifique. Les enfants ont beaucoup aimé observer les wapiti et les antilopes qui s'approchaient des maisons le matin.

Amazing location near Mammoth
I’ve stayed in the park many times and decided to take a chance on a place outside of the Gardiner Entrance. Great spot on the Yellowstone river. Comfortable with 2 queen beds in each room. Fully equipped kitchen. Even a Weber bbq on the back porch. In the shadow of Devils Slide mountain. Even has AC which was great when temps hit 88 during our trip.

The house is a bit smaller than it looks in pictures. There was also a strange odor that I imagine is from the old carpet that runs through the house. When we arrived we noticed a bottle of fabreeze in every room so it must have been an issue before. The beds are comfortable and the view is beautiful. The kitchen has the the basics. I called Vrbo and they confirmed that the 3 security cameras were not in the listing and they would contact the host. I now see it has been added. I would have never rented had I known they were there. I don’t break the rules and I treat each house we rent all over the world with as much care as my own so having cameras staring at you your whole stay is anything but welcoming.. The one at the front door is not bad but the two on the back porch right outside the kitchen were very intrusive. One was pointed toward the yard and the other pointed right at the seating area and whole porch. When sitting out there it was pointed right at you. It was so uncomfortable to know that someone was watching and listening to us. We decided not to grill out there and sit towards the side of the house because it was not private at all. Over all we liked our stay but a suggestion would be to give people their privacy and cut back on the rules and signs all over with more rules. It make you feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable.

While the inside isn’t luxurious, it is comfortable and well equipped. The covered patio with view of the river is amazing and well worth the long drive down a gravel road to get there. I felt the description could have been a little more clear about how far out it was and that there is no cell service. For a one night stay near Yellowstone we were very pleased though.

This is a great location to the North entrance of Yellowstone! There is a great hike right outside the entrance to the cabins. Even though the parks north entrance was closed and several stores and restaurants were not open or operating their normal business hours or days, we still found things to do around town. This is very close to everything you need when visiting Yellowstone.

The cabin and location was perfect for what was meant to be an amazing family vacation with our son and grandkids. It’s just Mother Nature had different plans and our timing was horrible. We were basically stranded within a 4 mile radius between our cabin and Gardiner from Sunday to Wed. due to the recent flooding. But Tammy was wonderful to work with, very caring and concerned about the whole situation. I hated even asking but when we were finally able to get out she even refunded us our last nights lodging. Someday we hope to finally visit Yellowstone and will defiantly book one of Tammy’s cabins again. It was clean and fully furnished and Yellowstone river was in our back yard along with fields of elk everywhere.

The cabin sits 3 miles from the north entrance to the park. An easy and convenient way to enter the park for several days in a row. Great place to stay. Close to the small town of Gardiner for a few conveniences.
