Unyielding and Unfriendly Policies

We are three sisters from different parts of the country looking to meet up together for several; days by the lake at this hotel that had been recommended to us. Unfortunately, one of us needed emergency hospitalization one day before check-in. The hotel was rigid and unreceptive with respect to its no-refund policy. They charged full cost, including extra charges for the 3rd person and all taxes despite the fact that there was no sale involved (>$170). I understand "no refund" policies but there needs to be some compassionate exceptions when its called for. I would seriously recommend full consideration of their policies before booking the LakeHouse Inn.

Hello Jacqueline: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are so very sorry to hear about your sister's emergency hospitalization. We do our best to assist guests when situations such as these arise, even though our cancellation policy clearly states refunds are not issued if we cannot rebook the room, regardless of circumstances. Since you booked through Expedia, and therefore had to cancel through them, they have very different policies than ours and have less flexibility when situations arise, such as these. This is why we always encourage guests to book directly by calling us or through our website rather than booking with an Online Travel Agency, such as Expedia. When Expedia makes these decisions they do not involve us or communicate with us regarding the cancellation, therefore we have no way of adding input or changing the outcome of their decision. Thank you again for sharing and allowing us to respond. We realize that during this time, and dealing with emergency hospitalization in your family is stressful and for that we are very sorry. We hope that in the future you'll be able to visit.

Relaxing by the lake

I will start on a positive note....the Lakeview Inn has a lovely view on the lake. But I received the wrong passcode to the room with no emergency phone to call. Thankfully someone in the closed restaurant assisted us. There were no staff members managing the welcome desk. The office was closed. All communication is done by texting. The cottage was small and stifling. Our complimentary cookies were broken. Not a welcoming impression. The ceiling fan blades were topped with dust so not able to be used. This drab no view room cost us $300.00 for 1 night in the middle of the week off season.

We arrived early and asked if we could possibly use the lobby or some other space for the Wi-Fi-as I had an imperator work meeting. Initially I was told ‘yes’ I could go got the spa, associated with the resort, across the street- I thanked them and then received a text saying they thought I would only need it a few minutes. The spa was closed- we were disturbing no one. We had to go to a McDonald’s for Wi-Fi. I would think at $300/night as a customer waiting for a room- you should be able to use the Wi-Fi. In addition, the spa and restaurant were closed with no notice on your website. Bikes on property cost additional money to use. Grounds are well maintained, room is clean, but this seems like a very SIMPLE gesture to allow a paying client to use the Wi-Fi.

Phillip:Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.I'm not sure what happened but if you were staying with us, you should have been able to use the WIFI. The username and password is located in the lobby and our team should have assisted you with this. Also, after check in we send a text to our guests with the WIFI information as well as it being framed in each room. We will discuss this issue with our team and provide training to assist guests in the future. Guests of the resort are always able to use the WIFI at no additional charge. As for the spa and restaurant, we do list the hours in multiple places and in our Expedia listings so that guests know when booking these rooms, those amenities are closed on certain days. We always recommend that guests book directly with the resort, or inquire with the resort when staying with us if you have an expectation of visiting a specific place on the property so that we may make a reservation for you, to ensure your satisfaction during your stay.Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
