Great hotel, very poor food and beverage.

Hotel is great and house keeping very good. The food and beverage is quite poor for the build of the hotel. The menu is tiny and not great. The drinks are quite poor. Also the staff are not attentive. Theres entire cafes with just no one in attendance at all. It is quite bizarre and they are clearly losing a decent share of money from this. If you went up to me when I was at the pool and asked if I wanted anything I would have, even from the limited menu. The cafe downstairs has never got any staff. If thats the case then just delete the cafe. It is far worse to have a bad, zero service cafe than it is to have a non existent one. Whoever is in charge of the F&B at the hotel really is doing an exemptionally poor job. The rest of the hotel is great. From the door staff to the housekeeping. But the F&B is actually a wonderful example of how not to do something.

An amazing stay, having visited many hotels in the past including Belmond - I can honestly say this was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. The location is ideal for exploring Penang (just be mindful for traffic), the breakfast and dining options are amazing and the service and care from every member of staff is as incredible

This is my second time stay at the hotel. Service is excellent as usual and my kids enjoy the breakfast buffet spread. However the towels are not as clean as the last round.

I booked this hotel because Expedia said it is a 5 star property. Nothing could be further from the truth. The room was average; certainly not luxurious. The linens were low grade cotton and the towels were thin and similar to something you’d find at Marriott Courtyard. The soap, lotion and shampoo were also low quality and were locked down. The bathtub and shower were across the room from each other so if you wanted to use soap in the tub you had to move back and forth, or dispense soap into a cup and carry to the tub. Genius. The gym was disgusting. Equipment was covered in recently deposited sweat. And while attendants occasionally showed up in the gym; none of them ever cleaned a thing. They’d attend to paperwork and then leave. Meanwhile the equipment and floor was dirty and there was hair everywhere. All 3 days. I paid separately for breakfast. It was ridiculous. I know oatmeal is not necessarily a fan favorite but it should never have the consistency of a pond or a lake. This place never got the memo. While there was the customary piles of bacon and an omelette station, the fruit was sparse. I couldn’t get a banana two of the three days during my stay. Watermelon came with the rind, for free. I take the blame for this mess too. I should have stayed at the Eastern and Oriental but it was substantially more, and again, Expedia told me this place is a 5 Star. My fault for believing this B.S. I am reminded that you get what you pay for.

New and modern hotel. 5* level.

Amazing hotel - real 5* level. The location is little bit far from the old town, but the transportation in Malaysia like Grab is cheap and convenient. Really nice rooftop bar and pool with the views of the city.

Luxurious accommodation with great facilities

Hotel felt like it was relatively new, staff were very attentive and easy to chat to. Amazing pool on the roof, and gym was well equipped. The hotel is in between two large malls with loads of eating options, and travelling in taxis was really cheap compared to UK.
