The hotel was great, it was just a shame that the nighttime dining options are limited and a lot of attractions were closed. But the hotel was top notch.

Thank you so much for your review! We're very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at The Vicarage. Geraldine does have two good restaurants open in the evenings - The Village Inn and Royal India - plus House of Hop (a 7-minute drive out of town), which is open on select nights. But yes, we are a small country town and some shops do have limited hours. We are very grateful to the visitors who sustain our lively little village!

The Vicarage is all class, tastefully refurbished and modern inside It’s the little things that make the difference and this place has them Close to shops and eateries, we loved it

Decoration of this property is too dark to me. Don’t fell welcome since self checkin. Sharing dairy milk in refrigerator seems scary.

Thank you for your feedback. It seems you were hoping for a property with a more modern minimalistic aesthetic, which is not what we were trying to achieve with our boutique historic property. We have set up our self check-in this way so guests feel like The Vicarage is a 'home away from home,' where they can come and go as they please and don't need to arrive during strict reception hours. However, we do understand this is a less common setup. I fail to see why there is a problem with providing milk in the common room for guests to use in their tea and coffee. We always make sure the milk is fresh, and it is a very common courtesy in New Zealand to furnish guests with the fixings they need to prepare tea and coffee. Thank you again for your feedback. Very well managed turn key operation that does not require any staff interaction to come and go. Lovely place to stay with modern facilities in a historical house. I would stay here again without a doubt.
